Today I got to spend some time at Caveman Vintage Music in Chinatown, Los Angeles with Store Owner Eric Stollsteimer. I met Eric through my friend Jose Luis Sedano while tracking down some information about old 78 records. Once I visited the place I knew I had to do a show a show there. When you are Vintage like me who remembers the music when it was new, then this place is a must visit on your Bucket List. While I was there I was also trying to sell some old reel to reel tapes. We spent about a half an hour talking about old guitars, old music, and old audio equipment and just had a wonderful time and I truly enjoyed it.
I asked Eric about why Chinatown for a location? He had the best Answer because we are a specialized store we are a “destination location” people come from all over the World to visit Caveman Music and after doing the show I understand why. Thank You Eric for your time, I had a lot of fun. I look forward to a show with Eric Bailey, who is your head of repairs and talk about repairing vintage guitars and audio equipment.
In 2011 Eric found himself missing being the owner of his own vintage music business, and that's when he opened “Caveman Vintage Music” in Chinatown, Los Angeles. Eric has been featured in reality show “Storage Hunters” and has been interviewed for television and numerous magazines including “Lightning” a Japanese magazine. Caveman Vintage Music has been used for commercials by Volkswagon and McDonalds. His store has been also feature in the television show the Agents of Shield.

The history of Jamaica's music is a fascinating one, and seldom has a nation's pop music been so celebratory, political, and concerned with civil rights, all rolled into an upside-down one-drop rhythm that is as recognizable as it is pervasive. Part mento, part African drums, part American jazz, soul, and R&B, part a Marcus Garvey-derived treatise on human rights and repatriation, Jamaica's reggae is pop music with clear revolutionary goals, intent on dancing in the face of Babylon while forthrightly chanting it down. This Is Reggae Music hits most of the historical high points, including Jamaica's entry into the international pop market with early hits like Millie Small's "My Boy Lollipop" (arranged by the venerable Ernest Ranglin) and Desmond Dekker's "Israelites," following these up with key tracks from Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come soundtrack (including Cliff's own "Many Rivers to Cross," the Maytals' "Pressure Drop," the Melodians' "Rivers of Babylon," and the Slickers' immortal "Johnny Too Bad" and some early reggae gems like Marley's "Duppy Conqueror" (produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry), the Heptones' "Hypocrite," and Cliff's "Vietnam." The final disc finds reggae poised to take over the world (on the wings of one Bob Marley), and includes essential tracks like Delroy Wilson's "Better Must Come," Zap Pow's bit of reggae-meets-Stax, "This Is Reggae Music," Slim Smith's stunningly beautiful "The Time Has Come," and the concluding song, the classic Jack Ruby-produced "Marcus Garvey" by Burning Spear.www.crsradio.com www.caribbeanradio.com

Jack Kovac's debut EP, "The State Line" is an expansive and introspective look into the mind of a growing, prolific songwriter. On each track, he inhabits the in-between spaces that separate musical expression from private rumination, giving artistic vision to every word and riff throughout. A Los Angeles transplant, Jack left the City of Broad Shoulders for the City of Angeles to study guitar performance at the University of Southern California. It was in the midst of musical learning and discovery that his world was opened up to the art of songwriting, He brings stories to life in music with an experimental edge that makes beautiful use of arrangement and dynamics, effortlessly pulling inspiration from the singer/songwriters of the 1970's and today. And he joins us this Friday with some of the new songs from his album, due for release Oct. 27, 2014.
Sa’ra Charismata is a musical muse born to Eritrean parents, raised in Stockholm, Sweden, and most recently residing in New York City. This tri-national millennial writes and co-produces songs of the yearning for freedom around the world and destruction caused by a culture of greed. In her process, she seems driven by forces beyond herself and the music puts you under the spell of those forces, which is why she was Nominated "Rookie Artist of the Year" at the 2014 Denniz Pop Awards. Sa’ra possesses that uncanny knack for drawing in a listener with triumphantly beautiful melodies and trippy beats while cleverly addressing the critical questions of her generation. We preview cuts from her debut album due out this fall and hear her inspiring story this Friday.
