We will talk about the kinds of conditions, including peripheral venous disease and varicose veins, about which information is being collected, and why patients and physicians might want to participate.
The Venous Patient Outcome Registry (VPOR), the first-ever patient-centered online registry, was developed to assess patient outcomes and quality of life for the various treatments of venous disease by standardizing the collection and analysis of clinical information, patient trends and practice patterns by specialists nationwide. Since its launch , VPOR is already recruiting sites and patients from all regions of the United States.
VPOR aims to provide clear, impartial evidence on the effectiveness, benefits and harms of available treatment options for both patients and physicians. Align the needs of patients with the performance of physicians, VPOR will help to translate research findings into information that is useful to clinicians, policy makers, payers and regulators for better patient care. http://www.venouspatientregistry.org

St. Peregrine - St. Peregrine was born in Forli, Italy, around 1265. At that time, Forli was governed by the Pope as part of the Papal States, and Peregrine grew up in a family that was actively involved in the opposition, or anti-papal party. Because of anti-papal activity, the city was under the church penalty of interdict, meaning that Mass and the Sacraments could not be celebrated there. St. Philip Benizi, Prior General of the Servants of Mary, went to Forli to preach reconciliation. Young Peregrine, very intense in his political fervor, not only heckled Philip during his preaching, but, in fact, struck him. Philip, instead of responding with anger and violence to the attack, turned and forgave Peregrine.
This encounter with Philip is said to have dramatically changed Peregrine. He began channeling his energy into good works and eventually joined the Servants of Mary in Siena, Italy. He returned to Forli, where he spent the rest of his life, dedicating himself to the sick, the poor, and those on the fringes of society. He also imposed on himself the penance of standing whenever it was not necessary to sit. This led to varicose veins, which later deteriorated into an open sore on his leg, and was eventually diagnosed as cancer.
Peregrine's leg wound became so serious that the local surgeon decided to amputate the leg. The night before the surgery, Peregrine prayed before the image of the crucified Christ, and when he awoke, the wound was healed and his leg saved. He lived another 20 years, dying on May 1, 1345, and the age of about 80. Peregrine was canonized on December 27, 1726, and has been named the Patron Saint of those suffering from cancer.
April 7, 2014 was an ordinary day for Jill Brenneman. That day would forever change her life when two thugs working on Houston Attorney Percy Isgitt's behalf brutally attacked her with injuries severe enough to require hospitalization. Pery Isgitt's thugs brutally shook Jill's head joking that they were going to turn her brain into scrambled eggs. Jill tried to get away until being caught and thrown into a large rock in a drainage ditch. The men stated thinking Jill looked "hot" and discussed raping her unil a neighbor scared them away. The men wanted Amanda Brooks location and Jill refused.
Jill developed severe lower back pain just days later that sent her to the hospital. However, she was treated by a misogynist doctor named Faisal Daud. Daud during the intake questionaire became upset at Jill's decision to be dNR Do Not Resucitate and diagnosed her as a psych patient. Jill actually had two problems. One, Jill has a Greenfield Filter in her chest to prevent blood clots from getting into the lungs. This filter was later discovered by a different medical practice to be broken with a piece stuck into the spine. Jill bloated 30 plus pounds in three and a half days but doctors saw her as a psych patient and dismissed her complaints of severe pain and rapid weight gain. Doctors also noticed a Deep Vein Thrombosis of which they treated her while in the hospital but gave her none to take home and no prescription.
A week later Jill was now 50 pounds heavier than a month prior and could not longer walk. She went to another hospital which diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis from the middle of her chest to her feet. Meaning blood could not use the primary veins to bring blood back to the heart and brain Jill's condition is fatal. Jill is now trying to raise money for $2000 in bloodwork and $500 in medications.
