Common Council member Judd Krasher talks about funding of the St. Patricks Day Parade
It's that time of year once again. We are only a few days away from another St. Patrick's Day, and that means green beer and green drink concoctions will be on the menu once again. This also means that it's the perfect time of year to enjoy some Richard's Wild Irish Rose, the official St. Patrick's Day bum wine! This is one of the few times of the year you will see me recommend WIR as a bum wine of choice, so you better take the time to enjoy it!
Grab a bottle of your favorite Wild Irish Rose flavor and join us for another edition of the BWB Podcast! What was named Forty Of The Week? Maybe we have a special Bum Wine Of The Week in the works for you? Make sure you tune in and find out!
Want to be part of the show? The phone lines will be open and you are welcome to call in at 347-826-9598 to join in the discussion. Cheers!

The St. Patrick’s Day parade in Boston will make history this Sunday as two gay and lesbian groups join the fun.
The advocacy group Boston Pride and OutVets, a group of gay military veterans, have been welcomed by the organizers.
‘‘This is a tremendous leap forward,’’ Boston Pride organizer Sylvain Bruni said Friday.
Until now, gay rights groups have been barred by the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council from marching in the parade, which draws as many as a million spectators each year. Twenty years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the organizers’ right to keep gays out.
Kiss me I'm Irish! How many of you have tried to be Irish so you could snitch a kiss on St.Paddy's Day? When you were a child and the game of the day was to wear Green so that you didn't get pinched did you wear green? Or, were you the child that intentionally did not wear
Green so people pinched you? Did you try to be like the other children when you were little. Would you paint your skin green to be accepted? Why do we celebrate St. Patrick'sDay?
Do you drink Green Beer on this holiday? We will talk about more than this holiday if you call in to change the subject! Please call! Thank you!
What do you do the day before a holiday? Do you go out to buy festive items so you can make a splash (show up in a big way) on the actual holiday? Why do we have holidays and why don't we celebrate each day? Why is life so boring anyway? Do you like to party on holidays or do you avoid holidays? Can you imagine a world without holiday celebrations?
Now that you have done that, I want you to make up a holiday to celebrate! Come to the show today and tell me what you would celebrate if anything!
Do we celebrate because someone has success?
TONIGHT: Listen to The African History Network Show, Thurs., March, 19th, 8:00pm-10:00pm EST (5:00am-7:00pm PST) with host Michael Imhotep. We’ll also discuss “Should African Americans Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day”. Call in with your Questions/Comments at 914-338-1375.
Around this time of the year you will see St. Patrick’s Day Parades, Kiss Me I’m Irish T-Shirts, Green Beer, Leprechauns, etc. It is expected that 127 million Americans will spend approximately $4.6 Billion during this St. Patrick’s Day holiday. One of the strangest things you will see is African Americans participating in this “celebration”. Do you really know what you are celebrating? Have you studied the history of St. Patrick’s Day? Even if you claim that you have Irish Ancestry do you really know what you are celebrating?
Did you know that Patrick was not Irish he was British? Why do we participate in celebrations without knowing what we are participating in? If you wear Green on St. Patrick’s Day, will you wear Red, Black & Green on African Liberation Day? If not, why not? I’m pretty sure you have more African Ancestry than Irish Ancestry.
Malaika Cooper of “The Baltimore Natural Hair Care Expo” and Relationship Expert C.J. Gross will join us to talk about this upcoming Natural Hair Care Expo in Baltimore, Sat. March 21st & Sun. March 22nd. Don’t miss workshops by Michael Imhotep of The African History Network Show dealing with “Great Black Women In History”. Visit www.AfricanHistoryNetwork.com.
This week, Matt and Shawn talk about St. Patty's Day celebrations! They also talk about the new app OrderUp, Emi Sunshine, and their upcoming SXSW trip!
And this week's #NUArtist is Ten Out of Tenn (TOT)! Before Nashville was the “it city.” Before there was a hit TV show on ABC and before Hollywood stars like Nicole Kidman had moved into town. Before award-winning, elite ranking restaurants and boutique hot spots existed. And long before The Black Keys, Kings of Leon and even Meghan Trainor were calling Nashville home, there was already a movement brewing outside the walls of the country music scene. Their forward thinking may not have broken headlines, but this community of artists banded together and forever changed the game for emerging indie artists. Meet Ten Out of Tenn.
It's St. Patricks' Day and we're not drinking.
