SORT BY Relevancy
Today is August 16th, the day after the 140th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo’s birth and also the 65th anniversary of Anandia’s independence of sorts from foreign rule. We will talk today about the powerful significance of this non-coincidence.
From previous broadcasts here and from The Age of Ananda and website, many of you know by now that we are evolutionary beings of an eternal cit-shakti. Cns-energy. Ananda, the bliss of pure consciousness, is the source, sustenance and goal of this universal saga of evolution. Evolution comes in two strands -- physical and spiritual -- and we have to both ascend and descend on the double helical elevator that traverses our spinal cord. Spiritual knowledge and realization has to be followed by a descent of the higher consciousness and its bliss to the cellular level to heal and transmute the body to a disease-free indefinitely long-living Homo anandicus form. As these transformations happen, society also gets automatically divinized.
This is the manifesto of living joyously and evolving consciously to the Life Divine, revealed and practiced by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. On the occasion of the anniversary of the MahaYogi, Brahmarishi, and Avatar JagadGuru Sri Aurobindo, let us remember his momentous message to all of humanity all over the world.
And it is uniquely given to Anandia, the dharmakshetra of the planet, to have this knowledge be carried in the bosom of the Vedas, nurtured and supported by the culture of the land of the rishis and siddhas, and to be re-revealed to us to meet the need of the times by SAM based on their own yogic explorations and discoveries at the highest levels of consciousness at one end, and the lowest stratum of life energy at the cellular level at the other.
The destinies of Anandia and Sri Aurobindo have been thus intertwined by the forces guiding our evolution.
Last week we did a dying simulation to find that elusive Self that survives the death of the body, followed by a reading from the Katha Upanishad on what comes after death, as taught by the Lord of Death Yama to the brahmin youth Nachiketa. We will continue today with this reading, and then discuss how, as taught in the Bhagavad Geeta, to prepare to die consciously: totally fearlessly, with a joyous smile on your face and with your vision for your next life, if any, as your dominant parting thought.

Live Joyously, Evolve Consciously
Kumar Sharma, Host and Guide of the Voice of Ananda Channel (VAC)
If consciousness is the subtest of the subtle, and seems the opposite of anything remotely material, how can massive universes emerge out of it? Out of the unmanifest plenum of cns how do planets and people get rolled out? Is the universe a self-organizing, onscious being, which is evolving each of us individually and collectively to play our roles in the cosmic leela joyously? Or is it is a happenstance of matter and energy and the laws of probability, at the mercy of purely physical forces, in which we live and die meaninglessly?
To understand the evolution of the universe out of cns, it is important to recognize that inherent in cns is its immense, potent, infinite force, power, energy to materialize. The dynamic, vibrational, ecstatic movement or play to express and manifest is celebrated in the Anandian traditions as the leela, or play of the Great Devi, Bhagavati, Isvari, the Goddess, the Divine Feminine. So it is the dynamic play of pure cns, represented by Shiva, with his eternal energetic consort and counterpart, personified as Parvati or Shakti, that we experience as our world and universe. In other words, the worlds are the interactive expressions of cns and energy enfolding and unfolding out of all forms and beings of the universe to finally find their integral unity in the One Brahman.
In this vision, the universe is an unfolding bubble of the matrix of cns-energy, in which animate and inanimate beings evolve as per the laws of their plane. Our universe and all universes are epiphenomena of cns mediated by its integral energy. The domain of energy and matter is the purview of the physical sciences, and the pursuit of cns in its integral nature is the domain of spiritual knowledge and practice. Evolution is to be appreciated as the discovery and celebration, such as in the hide and seek game, of our inner wealth and treasure in the Self as pure joy, ananda.
