So "Canelo" Alvarez's split decision win over Erislandy Lara wasn't face-melting action. Was it even a win? What does Canelo do next? Did Lara really run all night? Did a robbery take place? Does Canelo's carpet match his drapes??? ...we're asking from an interior design perspective. Bad Left Hook's James Foley and Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules will answer all of these questions and more, as they recap the entire PPV, including Abner Mares' tedious win over Jonathan Oquendo, Francisco Vargas' huge victory over JuanMa Lopez and Mauricio Herrera's fun one with Johan Perez. Oh yeah, and Jeff Lacy :( And up for next weekend, another show from Macau featuring Zou Shiming that includes Guillermo RIgondeax, Rex Tso, Gilberto Sanchez and Brian Viloria. Thanks for tuning in!

As surprisingly good as fights have been lately, we can only replay them so many times. We're boxing fans. We need to be constantly entertained, or we get pissy. Luckily we're kind of being thrown a bone this coming weekend with a high level match up in Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Erislandy Lara. It's the type of bout that, on paper at least, is excllenet in just about every aspect. But don't worry. Bad Left Hook's James Foley and Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules will find things to complain about -- like a weak undercard and the fact that it's on Pay-Per-View. Or perhaps that Ruslan Chagaev holds a heavyweight "belt" again. Who knows? Either way, thanks for tuning in!

Erislandy Lara fought an intelligent fight Saturday night, frustrating Canelo Alvarez with his quickness, movement, longer reach and his seeming ease at slipping punches.
But in the end Alvarez's body work won over at least one of the judges decisively as he came away with a split decision victory in a 12-round light middleweight bout at the sold-out MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Judge Levi Martinez scored it 117-111 for Alvarez, while Jerry Roth scored it 115-113 for Lara and Dave Moretti had it 115-113 for Alvarez.
Lara landed 10 more total punches than Alvarez, but Alvarez was well ahead on power punches, landing most of them to Lara's body.
Canelo, the 23-year-old Mexican superstar, is 44-1-1 with 31 KOs, and Lara, 31, who defected twice from Cuba, is 19-2-2 with 12 KOs.
Lara said he was "100% sure" he won the fight and asked for a rematch.
"I still have no respect for him," he said. "I want a rematch. I will do the same and I will win again."
Alvarez said he would give Lara a rematch "when he learns to fight."
Alvarez earned $1.5 million and Lara $1 million for the fight. Lara's WBA light middleweight title was not up for grabs in the non-title fight, which was contracted at 155 pounds, one pound over the 154-pound limit.

Ok I just liked the title but there is truth to it. Canelo Alvarez has been touted as the future of boxing but can he get past such a superb technician as Lara? In this video we go over many of great attributes of the fighter known as ErisLandy Lara and how those attirbutes may factor into the fight. The next video we will speak about Canelo Alvarez and all of his strengths in what is being called a 50/50 fight.
It was the most in-demand fight the fans could conceive of, at least the one that the powers that be could actually make, and yet, it was not as exciting when Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Erislandy Lara actually got into the ring in front of an extremely pro “Canelo” crowd at the MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The headline was “Puncher vs. Boxer” and the big question was whether or not Canelo was a big enough puncher to stop Lara from picking him apart, not necessarily stop Lara — although it was the only outcome some could foresee that would give Canelo a chance to have his hand raised at the end of the night — but prevent him from running away with the fight.
However, it wouldn’t be enough for Canelo to just not lose; he also had to find a way to win rounds, multiple rounds, rounds in succession. We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. Canelo Alvarez (43-1-1 31KO’s) will return to the ring on July 12th to face Erislandy Lara (19-1 2D 12KO’s). The bout will be televised live on Showtime PPV and will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas NV.
This fight is extremely intriguing because arguably two of the best Jr. middleweights in the world will be facing off against one another. As a fan of the sport I commend Canelo for taking this fight and Golden Boy Promotions for putting it together. The sport needs the best to fight the best in order for it to strive and it’s not happening often enough. As fans, we hope fights like this continue to get madeWe will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people.
