"You will be as much value to others as you have been to yourself." ~ Marcus T. Cicero
Value. It's the measure of worth. How much do you value yourself?
If you are prone to putting everything and everybody else before you and your own well being, you will ultimately undermine your life. Even if you have the "can't-help-its," that's no excuse to run yourself ragged trying to fix everyone's problems or make everyone happy. You'll never accomplish that impossible task anyway.
Choose YOU today! And here to tell you how to do that is our guest, Dr. Natalie Francisco, Founder of Women of Worth & Worship Institute in Hampton, VA. Join us for this uplifting chat and get empowered.

We all love to talk about love, and we likely always will because so much of it is mysterious. From the partners we choose, to why we leave or stay, to how a relationship’s dynamics are always changing, nothing hurts or heals so much.
The notions that passion always peters out, that there’s a “seven-year itch,” and that the honeymoon is over as soon reality sets in have some truth to them. But our CHI FOR YOURSELF GUEST promises that long-term, wholehearted love is still possible!

Captain Dan Willis is an author and active duty police officer with more than 25 years of experience and a leader of Peer Support/Emotional Survival classes for first responders.
Statistics and headlines speak for themselves as first responders fall victim to destructive habits and disorders, including alcoholism, gambling, depression, PTSD, emotional illness, divorce and broken families and worse — spousal abuse, murder, and suicide.
In this CHI FOR YOURSELF interview, Capt. Willis tells John Kobik how first responders and their loved ones can protect and nurture their spirits, and also how to seek help and make effective use of the help that exists, from professionals, peers, and families.

“Constructive wallowing” seems like an oxymoron. Constructive is a good thing, but wallowing is bad. Right?
But wait a minute; is it really so terrible to give ourselves a time-out to feel our feelings? Or is it possible that wallowing is an act of loving kindness, right when we need it most?
Our Chi For Yourself guest turns the conventional wisdom on its head. Tina Gilbertson is a successful therapist, workshop leader and blogger. She's the author of Constructive Wallowing: How to Beat Bad Feelings By Letting Yourself Have Them.

One of your biggest competitive advantages is knowing yourself. The more you are able to understand yourself, the better equipped you are to deal with issues and problems on a daily basis, especially those that take you out of your comfort zone. Self-knowledge allows you to change any of your own inhibiting actions and unleash your creative abilities.
Personal growth can be difficult. it requires us to evaluate where we are and whether or not things are working in our lives. If they aren't working, we need to change. And, managing change can be stressful whether we instigated it or it has been created by an external force. Being cognizant of this and strategically planning the change for personal growth are both critical factors to a successful outcome.
Most human beings are uncomfortable with uncertainty. They resist change. They insist on doing things the old way. When this happens, it can produce stagnation and limit growth. People often resist anything that requires effort. Given the choice of doing something that requires little effort or doing something that is difficult, most people opt for the easy.
What about you? Do you make the practice of self-evaluation a habit? It's surprising that only a small percentage of people actually self-evaluate. You can greatly improve your effectiveness when you know yourself. Have you changed? Are you trying to be the way you've always been? Or, are you looking for new and different ways to do things.

Feeling brave enough to speak up for yourself can be scary. It can make stomachs flutter, hearts beat faster than normal, and leave one of us in the cleft and craniofacial community wondering if it is OK to speak up and speak out for ourselves. In this week's "CleftCast," host Joe Rutland talks about speaking up for yourself, speaking out on subjects that affect those with cleft and craniofacial anomalies, and knowing that it is OK to do so. The trick, Rutland says, is to understand where it is safe to do so. Not everyone will understand, yet some people will and they will listen with open hearts
