Donna, Sarah, and Stewart Joseph discuss the Eight Dimensions of Wellness

    in Health

Hosts: Stewart Joseph, Donna Ewing-Marto and Sarah Pauter

A Holistic Guide to Whole-Person Wellness

For people with mental health and substance use conditions, wellness is not the absence of disease, illness or stress, but the presence of purpose in life, active involvement in satisfying work and play, joyful relationships, a healthy body and living environment, and happiness.1

Wellness means overall well-being. It incorporates the mental, emotional, physical, occupational, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of a person's life. Each aspect of wellness can affect overall quality of life, so it is important to consider all aspects of health. This is especially important for people with mental health and substance use conditions because wellness directly relates to the quality and longevity of your life.

Emotional—Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships

Environmental—Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being

Financial–Satisfaction with current and future financial situations

Intellectual—Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills

Occupational—Personal satisfaction and enrichment from one’s work

Physical—Recognizing the need for physical activity, healthy foods and sleep

Social—Developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system

Spiritual—Expanding our sense of purpose and meaning in life

SPIRIT OF SOLSTICE CONCERT. A magical musical evening of seasonal Celtic and original folk music, poetry, and song celebrating the Goddesses of Winter, with mountain dulcimer recording artist, Ruth Barrett and percussionist Jenn Valleley.

Winter Solstice is the time of conception for the solar cycle within the womb of the Goddess, inviting us to come into resonance with the rebirth of Spirit within the land and Her people while the Earth rests and waits for renewal in its time. For Her peoples, Solstice is a time of faith and hope, of drawing together in the darkness for comfort and support, to strengthen our inner light, and to vision together for a year of peace, healing, prosperity, and joy for all. Let us gather to listen, vision, and join our voices in song! Everyone welcome!
Please bring an object that represents global peace and community for our Peace on Earth Community Altar. (You will take home what you brought after the concert.)

Ruth Barrett is a fretted dulcimer recording artist, singer, and songwriter and award winning recording artist of original Goddess songs. Her numerous recordings have been among the pioneering musical works in the pagan and Goddess Spirituality Movements.
