    Unity Among Women

    in Spirituality

Where there is Unity, there is Always Victory!

Our power is greatly expanded when we support one another, both at work and in our personal lives. As one of us faces a seemingly impossible challenge, or achieves some new goal, or struggles with the process of discovery, we all benefit. By sharing our experiences with each other, we get stronger both individually and as a group, and we pave the way for those who will come after us. – excerpt from A Woman’s Worth

Since the dawn of time women have come together to raise and teach villages, being the backbone of their communities. In modern day times it seems like that dynamic has changed. Women seem to be divided in every way and like crabs in a barrel drag one another down rather than uplift.

One of the goals of this platform is to restructure that imbalance in reuniting the women of the world. We ask that you “be the change you want to see in the world.”

    Unity In The Community

    in Lifestyle

Wake Up Everybody!  Tonight's episode is "Unity in the Community", a conversation on youth gun violence with guests Sean Pryor, Founder of Guns Down and Andre T. Mitchell, Founder/Executive Director of Man Up! Inc.

It is no secret that there is a crisis of youth gun violence in our communities across this country.  On average, 33,000 Americans are killed with guns each year, and the burden of this violence falls disproportionately on young people: 54 percent of people murdered with guns in 2010 were under the age of 30.

What can we do about it?  Who should we hold accountable?  What are some solutions and strategies to prevent gun violence and the destruction of our communities?  How can we become a part of the solution instead of sitting on the sidelines complaining and being only a part of the problem? How do we call for unity in the community on this issue?

OTG & OTC: The Convention of States Project- Will It Make a Difference?

    in Current Events

Every few decades, there has been a call for an Article V Convention, for the purpose of proposing amendments to the United States Constitution.    Once again, the call is being trumpeted.   The Article V Convention is now being phrased as The Convention of States Project.  This Convention of states is a convention called by the state legislatures for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution.  Proponents want to call a convention for the purpose of limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.  We certainly know that the federal government is recklessly overreaching its powers … and that it is being allowed to happen.

While the Convention of States sounds like a good idea, there are questions.  If the Federal Government ignores the current Constitution, why would they adhere to an amended Constitution?  Is a convention of the states safe from turning into a “runaway convention”?  Where is the funding coming from, and who is the parent organization for the COS project?

Scott Williams, Tennessee State Director of the Convention of States Project is joining Debbie Barth and her illustrious panel, to answer these questions and to give his point of view for the Convention of States.

Do YOU feel comfortable with changes being made to YOUR Constitution?  Let us know what you think.  We need YOUR feedback!  Call 323-792-3071 (press the number 1 to talk to the host.)

Last show, we heard from featured guest callers in favor of COS.  Our featured guest callers … 4/16 … will be explaining why the COSP is NOT a good idea. (If you didn’t hear the show FOR COS … you will most definitely want to give a listen before attending this one.)

If the Federal Government Ignores the Current Constitution, now, why would they adhere to an amended Constitution?  Is a convention of the states safe from turning into a “runaway convention”?  Where is the funding coming from, and who is the parent organization for the COS project?

Wynne Coleman (heading up No Convention of States NC) is joining Debbie Barth and her illustrious panel, to answer these questions and to give her point of view for opposing the Convention of States.

    NAN Convention 2015

    in Politics

Saturday, April 11, Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley (D) will address the National Action Network’s Annual Convention (NAN) in New York City. O’Malley, who is also a possible 2016 presidential candidate, will deliver remarks at 10:00 a.m. on the final day of the 17th annual NAN convention led by civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton in New York at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.

This year’s annual convention arrives on the heels of a series of events that shined a bright light on the racial and civil rights challenges still plaguing America. It will be largest gathering of civil rights leaders since the tragedies in Ferguson, Staten Island and most recently, the tragic shooting of an unarmed man in South Carolina. Thousands of people are coming together – from faith leaders to business leaders to Obama Administration officials – to discuss ways to combat 21st century assaults on justice and equality.
