No Man Can Tame The Tongue - James 3.

    in Christianity

James 3:3, 6, 8-9 Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.

Generational Dsyfunction: Family Ties that Bind and Break Us

    in Family

Dysfunctional families are steeped in shame, and cannot look at their issues. They have poor insight into their own behaviors and problems, and will do anything to appear normal or exceptional, despite the fact that in reality, they are terribly crippled by their fears, addictions, mental disorders, abuse, neglect and insecurities.(http://lightshouse.org/lights-blog/outcast-scapegoat-or-black-sheep-of-the-dysfunctiona-family#ixzz3yeroO5Ub) Rules and roles in dysfunctional families keep people operating with masks and pretense. Over time this lack of authenticity results in deeply entrenched false beliefs in family members; even after a child is grown these thought patterns might be very difficult to break.(http://www.smokyraincounseling.com/articles/dysfunctional-family-rules-and-roles/)

Parental Abandonment: Mommy/Daddy Where Are You? Part II

    in Family

When children are raised with chronic loss, without the psychological or physical protection they need and certainly deserve, it is most natural for them to internalize incredible fear, [confusion, isolation and negativity]. Not receiving the necessary psychological or physical protection equals abandonment. And, living with repeated abandonment experiences creates negative toxic [emotions]. [These emotions arise] from the painful message implied in abandonment: "You are not important. You are not of value." This is the pain from which people need to heal. (Excerpt from https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-many-faces-addiction/201006/understanding-the-pain-abandonment ) Join our guests: author of “Through My Eyes”, Velma Williams and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Candice E. Cox to discuss this important topic…and DON’T BITE YOUR TONGUE!!! Call in at 657-383-1999.

    Riots v. Rhetoric: What's Real?

    in Current Events

There have been riots in our society since its formation…economic riots, religious riots, and ethnic riots. But, the history of race riots in this country outnumbers all of those combined. Why? Why does race cause so much turmoil for our society? Furthermore, why does sustainable positive change elude the outcomes of these riots? Often the zeal of the MOVEMENT fizzles into just another MOMENT for the history books. Are riots just rhetorical solutions clothed as societal temper tantrums? Our guest are community activist Zaki Baruti and Camron Rhodes.

Join us at 657-383-1999 to discuss this and much more…and DON’T BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!
