Sharing true amazing stories of 3 women that joined Indiana National Guard!.
One woman joined the ING to pay for college, never expecting a terrorist attack on the United States while she was still in training would result inher deployment to Afghanistan.
Another one wason the longest-serving women in the Indiana National Guard who defiled her age, gender and single parent status to serve because she saw the military as her calling.
The third woman profilied in the book "Soldier Girls": The Battles of Three Women at Home and at War" joined the military on a dare and paid the biggest price of the three- getting hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq.
Let's discuss some of the moves that deadbeat guys put on unsuspecting women and end up feeding off of them for months and sometimes even years. Join the show at 10:30am. Call (818)301-5834.
We women are the weavers of the social fabric of life. Love is the bottom line of our lives. Relationship is of prime importance to us. Yet, in our tormented world we are cut off from this core value and suffer in our relationships with our mates, children, friends, and work colleagues. It is time to come together, drop our guard, reconnect in sacred sisterhood, acknowledge what we all share as common heritage as women and learn how to truly support ourselves and one another for our personal and planetary healing and transformation. By sharing our vulnerable truth and being witnessed by one another with compassion, empathy and care we can create the culture of love that is our birthright as women. Join Iris and Priya in intimate and open conversations about what we women face as we go through the unique portal after menopause into our sixties - the entrance into our wisdom years.
The current political scene often seems to pit liberals against conservatives with Democrats defined as liberal and Republicans cast as conservative. I suggest that the current political struggles do not reflect the traditional liberal/comnservative dialogue but are perversions and extreme versions of legitimate life stories. The extremes in these struggles reflect a tribalization of political differences which include self-glorification, demonization of opponents and demands for total loyalty to leaders and tribe. Todays discussion will suggest that liberal/conservative differences are one of emphasis, often subtle, between a focus on the environment in which we live and the qualities by which individuals live. Liberals traditionally seek social justice while conservatives seek individual moral integrity and responsibility. I will suggest that we cannot have one without the other and if we try we will produce a country that will reflect either anarchy or totalitarianism. If we psychanalyze our own emphases we can negotiate and take strong stands against the current tearing of American Democracy now taking place.
About Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week." Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as "Women’s History Week." In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month." Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.”
Join us for the Month of March where great events are honored and takes place, including yours truly's birthday (March 5). Let's talk about the impact and importance of how women's participation in American construct has shaped and shall continue to shape history's future.
