There are certain things that come to mind when we think of of the life of Christ, but in the new testament the apostle paul instructs to be or to become more like Christ. But what does that actually mean? Join Bishop-Elect Lawrence F. Wright on Greater is in YOU radio to find out exactly how we are to achieve such a great thing. #GodStrong
Ruth's mother-in-law has an idea for Ruth to snag a wonderful husband. It involved sneaking to the man's bed at night! It sounds shocking and could definitely appear scandalous but is actually innocent. A beautiful romantic love scene unfolds. It's not hard to fill in the details of this relationship between Ruth and Boaz. My guess is that she already recognized that Boaz was very attracted to her. After all, she had already been married and understood the man-woman relationship. So, while she may have been nervous about what her mother-in-law told her to do, I'm thinking she knew in her heart that Boaz would be very happy to find her there at the foot of his bed.
However you might imagine the details of this love story, the truth I'd like to share for today is that Jesus loves us as Boaz loved Ruth. Jesus doesn't force his lordship into our lives. God woos us, and He loves adopting us into the family. Ultimately, by the way, we are the bride of Christ, just as Ruth became the bride of Boaz.
Ruth 2:10-12New King James Version (NKJV)
10 So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?”
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before. 12 The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”
One of the most beautiful passages in the Bible is in this chapter. It has been used in probably millions and millions of weddings:
Ruth 1:16-17New King James Version (NKJV)
16 But Ruth said:
“Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.
17 Where you die, I will die,
And there will I be buried.
The Lord do so to me, and more also,
If anything but death parts you and me.”

You don't have to "please" anybody...or "thank you" them for that matter. You just have to be your darling, lovely self. You don't have to explain anything to anybody either, for that is just an outgrowth of trying to please people. Why do so many of us have a hard time just being great? Workplace behavior and modification of uncivil workplace behavior is my topic tonight on "You Talk Too Much". Have you ever worked day in and day out with an annoying co-worker? Did your work life become a hell hole because of it? What were you able to do something about it? Or, did you feel powerless because you felt there was nothing you could do to change your uncivil workplace environment? Our guest tonight is Mrs. Sharon E. Harrington. She is an Organizational Communication Consultant with over 25 years of experience facilitating workplace learning and mediating issues surrounding workplace conflict. She is the founder of Amediate, LLC. Sharon Harrington is passionate about the services she provides to businesses, organizations and professional associations. She recommends educating employees and management on "how to" define and recognize uncivil workplace behaviors. And ultimately "how to" reverse the potentially negative consequences of uncivil behaviors in the work environment. Today is Thursday, July 3. The year is 2014. You are listening to Blogtalkradio. I'm Laura Gall and the name of my show is "You Talk Too Much". My call in number tonight is 1-714-242-5273. Thank you for listening.
