I'll explain to you how most people come in contact with these parasites and how to avoid them,
Women are most susceptible to infections during pregnancy, to some extent due high estrogen levels. Some infections can be severe on the person and harmful to the fetus or newborns. Some of the most common risks during pregnancy include: Yeast Infection, Listeriosis, Toxoplasmosis, and Urinary Tract Infection.
Yeast Infection, also known as monilial vaginitis or vaginal candidiasis, are caused by overgrowth of a fungus that is normal present in vagina of many women; Listeriosis, caused by Bacteria present in foods, and may prove to be dangerous if left untreated causing miscarriage or stillbirth; Toxoplasmosis, caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. If occurs, might be potentially damaging to the developing baby causing hearing and visual damages; Urinary tract infections (UTI) or cystitis are apparent as increased urination with a burning and may cause kidney infection.
Treatments are available depending on which side of the world you are, and your circumstance to proper health care access. Fortunately, one can take steps to decrease the chance of developing a potentially harmful illness during pregnancy.
