Julie Beischel, PhD, author of Among Mediums: A Scientist's Quest for Answers, is the co-founder and Director of Research at the Windbridge Institute. She holds a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology with a minor in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona. She is a full member of the Society for Scientific Exploration and the Parapsychological Association, and serves on the scientific advisory boards of the Rhine Research Center and the Forever Family Foundation. Her research includes examinations of the accuracy and specificity of the information that mediums report, as well as their experiences, psychology, and physiology, and the potential social applications of mediumship readings.

As we continue our special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, hosts June Stoyer and special guest-host, Tom Theobald will be joined by Dr. Susan E. Kegley, to discuss the impact of sulfoxaflor and discuss the pros and cons of this agro-chemical. Dr. Kegley is Principal and Founder of the Pesticide Research Institute (PRI), an environmental consulting firm providing research, analysis, technical services and expert consulting on the chemistry and toxicology of pesticides. Dr. Kegley's consulting work focuses on pollutant fate and transport; human and ecological exposure assessment and risk assessment; development of tools to assess relative risks for different pesticides; development of integrated pest management (IPM) approaches to minimize pesticide use; environmental monitoring (with a focus on air and water sampling); and analytical chemistry. She also has expertise in pesticide regulation and policy, ecotoxicology, human toxicology, and epidemiology. Dr. Kegley has a BS in Chemistry, Summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond and a PhD in organic/inorganic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The Neonicotinoid View: The Impact Of Sulfoxaflor
Sulfoxaflor is from the sulfamine family and is also a systemic pesticide. Sulfoxaflor is effective against a wide range of sap-feeding insects and exerts its insecticidal activity as an agonist at the insect nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR), which plays a central role in the mediation of fast excitatory synaptic transmission in the insect central nervous system. Sulfoxaflor has not been evaluated previously by the Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues and was reviewed at the present Meeting at the request of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues. While it is not a neonicotinoid, it is systemic pesticide that targets the same neural receptors as the neonicotinoids.

The Case Against Fluoride
Most people take for granted that the water in from their faucet is safe to drink or is it? There is a lot of controversy over just how safe our tap water is and also if our government agencies have the right to treat drinking water that is consumed by the masses. The agencies that are charged with protecting our water claim that everything is safe. However, there are many scientists who disagree. The Case Against Fluoride by Dr. Paul Connett, Dr. James Beck, and Dr. H. Spedding Micklem, DPhil, takes a new look at the science behind water fluoridation and argues that just because the medical establishment endorses a public health measure, that doesnt mean its safe. In the case of water fluoridation, the chemicals used to fluoridate the water that more than 180 million people drink each day are not pharmaceutical grade, but rather hazardous waste products of the phosphate fertilizer industry; it is illegal to dump them into rivers and lakes or release them into the atmosphere. And water fluoridation is a prime example of one of the worst medical practices possible-forced medication with no control over the dose or who gets it. Perhaps most shocking of all, it is not subject to any federal regulation. Dr. Paul Connett is the Director of the Flouride Action Network (FAN), and the Executive Director of its parent body, the American Environmental Health Studies Project (AEHSP). He has spoken and given more than 2,000 presentations in 49 states and 52 countries on the issue of waste management. He holds a bachelors degree from the University of Cambridge, a Ph.D. in chemistry from Dartmouth College and is a retired professor of environmental chemistry and toxicology at St. Lawrence University.
