The truth is, riding roller coasters can help you stay young at heart, too.
So can reveling in all sorts of other experiences that cultivate childlike qualities --like playfulness, spontaneity, joyousness, flexibility, and optimism.
It's a worthwhile investment of time and energy. Why? These kidlike qualities confer substantial age-protecting benefits. Studies find that people who are optimistic and playful live longer, healthier and happier lives.
Tune in and learn the difference between being childlike and not childish.
Is your sense of touch keen? Do you feel things energetically that others might now be aware of? Do you get goose bumps over news or situations? Do you pay attention to the world around you or are you "miles away" in thought from your present surroundings?
If you were in a room full of fabric would you look at them or prefer to go wild touching yourself with the fabrics? When you enter a room what sense causes your feelings first? Is it your sense of smell, your hearing, your sight, your desire to touch what you see, or taste what you smell? How would you do if you lived in nature like our primitive ancestors? Have you ever tried to develop your senses beyond the world of illusions we live in? Did you have a teacher who helped you discover how important your senses are? Was her name Miss Annabelle?
Join Partners in Health and Biz talk show host Gail Dixon as we continue our fascinating conversation about Staying in Touch with Our Youthful Emotions.
Life's hard knocks can put serious dents in youth's optimism -- and rob you of its age-protecting benefits.
When it comes to health and well-being, optimism is optimal.
Research finds that people who score high on tests of optimism find greater pleasure in life, feel less hassled and stressed by everyday demands, report fewer health problems, and even recover more quickly from major surgery, than those who get low scores.
Tune in and learn the many ways you can recapture your youthful emotions and live a happier, healthier life.

Open wide and ...laugh out loud. Humor, it seems is just what the doctor ordered. Not only can it help reduce stress and open channels of communication between people, research suggests humor can help ease pain, facilitate recovery, help problem solving and decision making, and help you maintain your balance and your positive outlook.
"Humor isn't a substitute for health care, but it can be a powerful and fun adjunct," says Joel Goodman, Ed.D., director of the Humor Project, an organization in Saratoga Springs, New York, that offers seminars, conferences, and publications on the therapeutic use of humor. Dr. Goodman is also the co-author of Chicken Soup for the Laughing Soul.

Drica Armstrong was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ. As a child Drica never thought of becoming a writer because she wanted to be a Lawyer. A homework assignment given to her by an English teacher in the 8th grade sparked her interest in writing. While attending high school, Drica wrote several short stories and poetry but starting writing her first novel, Beautiful Liars, during her first year of college. Writing her first novel was just a hobby but soon after gained much interest from friends and family to take her writing further. After graduating from Newbury College in Brookline, MA with an Associate and Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Drica started to pursue publishing for her debut novel. Finding no luck with traditional publishing, Beautiful Liars was self-published in 2009.
Soon after the release of her new novel, Drica finished her second novel, Hide and Seek. Hide and Seek is the first novel to be published on Drica’s self-publishing company, Double Take Publications, in 2011. In 2013, Drica published two new novels, Trust No One and Game Over. As of the present time, Drica has been in two anthologies, including Fire and Desire. Drica’s current published novels are Beautiful Liars, Hide & Seek, Trust No One, Game Over, and Betrayal Between the Sheets. Drica just formed her production company, Strong Chance Productions. Currently, Drica just wrapped on her first feature film, His Dying Wish, and is working on her new film, while living in New Jersey with her son.

More About Mary:
Mary Edwards is a composer, songwriter and sound artist whose projects range from recordings and performances "evocative of epic cinematic soundtracks combined with lyrical intimacy..." (Time Out NY), to immersive environmental and architectural sound installations. Themes of temporality, impermanence, nostalgia, longing, childhood and the natural world are interspersed throughout her work. Her extended discographyincludes the solo releases, A Smile in the Mind (2007), Console (2010),Eastern/Central & Mountain/Pacific (2012), and Everyday Until Tomorrow(2015), where she captures the essence of Modernism, '60s film scores and classic pop, thinking in terms of miniature movies (to paraphrase Burt Bacharach) to create pocket symphonies and an indelible, sprawling landscape of sound.
