Early Morning At The"Tomb Raider Temple"Ta Prohm-Angkor Ruins, Cambodia

    in Travel

Excerpts from "Early Morning At The "Tomb Raider" Temple.

The crowds that visit Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the Angkor Ruins region can be overwhelming. Over 2.3 million people visited the site in 2014 making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in all of Southeast Asia. On my last visit I spent many early mornings wandering the ruins including visits to Ta Prohm, the temple complex made famous by the 2001 film Lara Croft Tomb Raider.

Ta Prohm was built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries in the Bayon Style which include face towers and naga carrying giant figures. Originally called Rajavihara it is located one kilometer east of Angkor Thom, the last great city of the Khmer Empire. King Jayavayerman Vll who ruled the empire oversaw construction of Ta Prohm from Angkor Thom,  where he ruled.

Ta Prohm had been left almost in the same condition as it was found, with huge trees growing out of the structure which have literally taken over the temple, one of it’s striking features.

Don’t forget to look on the ground as there are many relics from the temple half buried under your path.

Is it worth it to wake up early with all of the craziness of the crowds? Of course, it’s Angkor Wat. It’s an amazing experience. Just be prepared for a little nonsense and sometimes rudeness with that many people gathered in one spot. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to be a downer. Just preparing you for what’s going to happen so you can adjust your expectations accordingly. If I didn’t have proof you’d probably never believe me if I told you someone even brought a horse. Mind you this was sunset, a different crowd indeed

  • Compassion at the tomb

    in Religion

While Mary wept at the tomb her heart breaking out of her love and compassion for Jesus, He showed up in the midst of her pain and sorrow to minister to her. For those whom really love the Lord, we need to know He is faithful especially while we're hurting and in seasons of heaviness and sorrow. Though the adversary will whisper Gods Forgiten us this text shows just how wonderful and compassionate our Heavenly Father really is. Those whom love the Lord should rely on Him in difficult times

Fourteenth Station - Jesus is laid in the tomb

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

After Jesus died, his body was placed in a tomb. This was better treatment than many crucified people would have received. Their bodies were often discarded by Roman soldiers and left exposed, unless they had families or friends nearby to care for them. The body of Jesus was fortunate enough to receive unusual attention from a man named Joseph, who was both a member of the Sanhedrin and a follower of Jesus. He made sure the body of his Master was appropriately buried, so that, later, the bones of Jesus could be finally interred in an ossuary (a special box for bones). Little did Joseph know that God had other plans for the body of Jesus.

The Example of Lazarus & Time and Attention

    in Christianity

Imagine yourself standing outside Lazarus's tomb, and Jesus has just arrived. Lazarus has been dead for 3 days now, and “he stinketh.” What does Jesus have to do in order to raise Lazarus from the dead? If Jesus only restored his life, Lazarus would still have pneumonia, and would simply die again. And if Jesus only healed the pneumonia, Lazarus would be nothing more than a pneumonia-free corpse. Jesus did both. He removed what caused Lazarus’s death, he removed the pneumonia, and gave him life, got his heart pumping again. He does the same for us: at His Crucifixion Jesus removed what causes us death — our inherited sin nature; at His Resurrection He gave us new life, His own.

    Time On Our Hands?

In the Age of Knowledge, God wanted man to become aware of his need for God. In the Age of Grace, God wants man to have that need met. In the Age to come, God wants man to learn to live in dependence and freedom, without any constraints from the law, and all that that means, by first starting to rule and reign over our selves.

There are really only two things we can give to God: Time and Attention. And even these He has to reveal and make us able to relinquish to Him. It is because our time and attention are so valuable to God that they are also the battleground where we fight the world, the flesh and the devil. We feel the pressure to be producing more now, to prove our spirituality, to earn, gain and keep the blessing and gifts God has given to us. Ask the Lord to reveal to you any area where you are spending too much or too little time. Then depend on Him to make through you whatever changes may be necessary to make the most of the time you have. Remember, God has so much time on His hands that He is spending every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day doing nothing but thinking, and planning, arranging and rejoicing over every circumstance in your past, present and future.

LOOSE HIM AND LET HIM GO NOW!

    in Spirituality

    John 11:38-44

Lazarus raised from the Dead and He will do it for you!

WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR LIFE THAT HAS DIED AND NOW STINK, YOU'RE BOUND, WALKING AROUND IN GRAVECLOTHES. WELL THIS IS YOUR DAY. WE SPEAK TO THE STINK, WE SPEAK TO THE GRAVECLOTHES, WE SPEAK TO THE DEAD PLACES, IN JESUS NAME BE LOOSED AND COME FORTH.

38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.”

Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.[a] And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”You are now free to live, go live.

Living according to the Soul & Law or by Spirit & Life

    in Christianity

Finding out and finally believing who and what we are in Christ doesn’t suddenly make it true; because we are born into His family we have all the benefits that go along with it, not because we believe it, but because it’s true. So if you are a believer you are living in a new time zone, a new realm, eternity, whether you believe it or not. The battle is to believe it; the behavior will follow.

    The Example of Lazarus

We are probably all familiar with the story of Lazarus, Jesus’s friend who died. Imagine yourself standing outside the tomb, and Jesus has just arrived. Lazarus has been dead for 3 days now, and “he stinketh.” Now Lazarus died of something; for the sake of our illustration let’s say it was pneumonia. It could have been he had had an accident and had broken his neck, but for now, let’s say he died of pneumonia, and has been entombed. What does Jesus have to do in order to raise Lazarus from the dead? He has to restore his life (get his heart beating and his brain functioning again, etc.) and heal what caused his death. If Jesus only restored his life, Lazarus would still have pneumonia, and would simply die again. And if Jesus only healed the pneumonia, Lazarus would be nothing more than a pneumonia-free corpse. So Jesus did both.

God created time, He controls it, and does whatever He wants with it. In fact, He has so much time on His hands that He is spending every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day doing nothing but thinking, and planning, arranging and rejoicing over every circumstance in your past, present and future.
