Tired of feeling invisible? Sick of getting no respect? Not willing to take it anymore? Three women of a certain age come together on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show to talk about fighting back with attitude. Joining Halli at her table are the authors of THE NEW SENIOR WOMAN: REINVENTING THE YEARS BEYOND MID-LIFE: Dr. Barbara M. Fleisher and Dr. Thelma Reese, and Cheryl Benton, aka the “head tomato,” the founder and publisher of The Three Tomatoes, a digital lifestyle magazine for “women who aren’t kids”.

Barbara Fleisher and Thelma Reese, the founders of the popular website Elderchicks.com, for women over 60, are members of the fastest growing part of the population: senior women in their retirement years also known as “Women of a Certain Age.” Wives, moms, grand moms and successful college professors, the two “old” friends came together, serving as catalysts for witty, candid, and inspirational conversation for women entering their retirement years with their amazing book THE NEW SENIOR WOMAN, REINVENTING THE YEARS BEYOND MID-LIFE, a compilation of conversations with women from 60+ to 100.

After running her own successful ad agency on Long Island, Cheryl Benton sold her agency to one of the largest ad agencies in the world, and spent nearly 25 year in the New York City ad agency world of mad men and women. Benton, aka the “head tomato” then founded and became publisher of The Three Tomatoes.com, a digital lifestyle magazine for “women who aren’t kids”. Having lived and worked for many years in the land of size zero twenty-somethings, she was truly starting to feel like an invisible woman. She created The Three Tomatoes “just for the fun of it” as the antidote for invisibility and sent it to 60 friends. The rest, as they say, is history.

WebbWeaver Books Proudly presents: Author Rebecca Jaycox

    in Books

She touched the frog. Just once. It leaped into the air and hopped away, disappearing under the classroom desks. It had been awaiting its fate as a science experiment, fully dead, the stench of formaldehyde permeating the room . . .

Seventeen-year-old Reggie has been having a tougher time than usual. As if dealing with her alcoholic mother and fighting school bullies isn’t enough, dead things keep coming back to life and this biker dude shows up in her dreams, babbling about magic and a world called the Other.

Reggie’s life is changing, and she has no idea why. Or whether she should believe Rhys, the man in her dreams, who claims she’s in danger and that someone is coming to take her to a safer reality.

And when Asher shows up, things really get crazy.

Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Founder of Miclknight. I am an Educator, Author, Speaker, Radio Show Host, a Full-Circle Health Coach and passionate about Healthy Living.

    Health Tips and Controversial Tips

Last week: Avocado Seed, a Super Food.  Use: wash seed, dry for a few days, pulverize, put in smoothy, yogurt, home made bread. Remember the 13 Health Benefits!

I use Flax Seed Meal instad of eggs to bake my home made bread. 3 scoops = 1 egg.

7 foods you should NEVER refrigerate:

    1. Bananas - cold temps disrupts ripening process.

    2. Tomatoes - they lose their flavor and become mushy in cold temps.

    3. Coffee - cold temps destroy the natural oils within the coffee bean, the aromatic scent cannot be activated.

    4. Sweet Potatoes - in cold temps starches turn into sugars, texture and flavor are destroyed

    5. Avocados - cold temps disrupt the ripening process.

    6. Apples - cold temps make Apples lose their texture and flavor.

    7. Onions - get soggy in cold temps, smell up refrigerator and other foods

Conclusion: Buy only as much food as you can eat before it goes bad. Best way to have it fresh at all times is to grow your own garden. Vertical, horizontal, in ground, hydroponic...

    Whirl With Merle

    in Travel

The town of Barto is where Landhaven Bed and Breakfast, is located at 1194 Huffs Church Rd and owned by Donna and Ed Land.

The building was formerly an 1870s general store.  You can see some of the history in “the event room”.  The first floor has the kitchen, dining room, “gathering room” and one bedroom. I was given one that had a roll in shower and shower bench.  This is very unusual for a BandB.  There are 4 rooms on the second floor and the living quarters on the third floor with an extra bedroom and private bath if necessary.

Friday night called for entertainment. It was a country-rock-bluegrass sort of local group called Frog Holler. The room was packed with what appeared to be mostly followers of the band.  We all loved the music.  Some of the women in the audience couldn’t help but get up and dance.  Concerts tend to be on both Friday and Saturday evenings with a BYOB.

The pillows on the bed were like the best ever!  Would have slept longer if it weren’t for a full day of featured fun to look forward to. Breakfast was a deconstructed blintz.  Bake casserole with the cheese filling.  Then you get to scoop on fresh cooked apple pieces, nuts and a vanilla sour cream.  Donna and Ed maintain an extremely friendly atmosphere. www.landhavenbandb.com

We will talk with the owners.

Rolling Coal: "Clean Diesel" is an Oxymoron

    in Politics Conservative

Here are tenight's topics for discussion:

The Volkswagen Fraud: Let's face it. Diesel engines stink—literally. Why did Volkswagen take the risk? How  did they get away with it for so long? What deos the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) have to do with this?

Hillary's Server: There is a lot of misinformation going around. What was Clinton's motivation for a "private" server? What is the difference between a private server and a private email address? What cyber attacks were used? What is the FBI investigation really looking for? What are the security implications? At this point, what can the FBI learn?

The USA is a Third World Nation: Like the proverbial frog in a boiling pot, change—or lack of change—has happened so gradually that much has gone unnuticed. Nevertheless, we are becoming more and more like Obama's ideal country.

Another Mass Shooting: It's too early to speculate about this one. Obama's reaction was predictable.

RINOs: Will business as usual continue in Congress? Is it time for a government "shutdown?"

Your opinion is welcome. Call in and tell us what you think: (310) 807-5158 or toll free (877) 878-1431
