Carolina Clay - The Story of Dave with Leonard Todd

    in History

Leonard Todd is the author of CAROLINA CLAY, the story of the slave potter known as Dave. Newsweek calls it “a fascinating account.” Publishers Weekly describes it as “a sweeping tale of the South itself.” It was a finalist for The National Award for Arts Writing, and it won the South Carolina Center for the Book Award for Writing. It is published by W. W. Norton.

Born in South Carolina, Leonard was educated at Yale University. He is a former Fulbright Scholar to France. He lived for many years in New York City, where he began his writing career with travel articles, short stories, and novels for young adults. Two of his novels, set in areas of the South that he knew well as a boy, were optioned for film productions.

Author Leonard Todd will be talking with us about the great ceramic artisan known as “Dave,” who lived in South Carolina during the 19th century. He was a potter, a poet, and a slave.

For many years, very few details were known about this enigmatic man. Leonard, however, discovered a startling personal link to him and set out to uncover his story. The prize-winning book, CAROLINA CLAY, is the result.

Leonard now lives with his wife, a poet, in Edgefield, South Carolina, where he recently wrote the book, lyrics, and music for his first theatrical musical, SUNNY DAY, which had its premiere at the Edgefield County Theatre Company.

Leonard has told Dave’s story to audiences at the Smithsonian, at Oxford, on National Public Radio, and today he will be telling it to us.

Twitter: Fools, Idiots and Todd Kincannon

    in Politics Conservative

Twitter is full of fools and idiots, Todd Kincannon being one of the biggest frauds on social media, and more over a HUGE fraud to the Conservative Party; now we have of all people Michelle Malkin pimping his new “hashtag” only to make a buck.
I find this very sad for our beloved Conservative Party that has prided itself on always taking the moral high ground, yet with people like TODD they continue to tarnish our Christian views and our Conservative beliefs.
Andrew Breitbart has got to be rolling around in his grave.

    in News

"On The Air" With Sonny Clark

With the city of Rowlett going through this trying time, I thought I would bring on the Mayor fo Rowlett Todd Gottel.

The Mayor has been very busy and reached out to me, after I asked for time a week ago. He was still very busy, but he gave me time when he was able to give me some real time, not just a few minutes. His deadication to get information out to people and keeping them up to speed is is great! All I can say, it is obvious that he is the right leader at the right time.

We did this phone interview early in the morning on Friday. Hear what he has to say about this town and what is going on as far as relief, and city government and what is next for Rowlett during this trying time.

We will also be talking about some of the new information that has come out as of late. Working hard to keep you infomrmed.

We also take a times to take a look at the Rowlett Eagles boys basketball team.

Divinely Ordained Order with Todd Tomasella and Frank Telford

    in Christianity

"But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.' 1 Timothy 3:15

"For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting (lacking), and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:" Titus 1:5

"And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed." Acts 14:23

"And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem." Acts 16:4

Jesus cleansed the temple (picture of His house) with the goal of establishing His order out of man's chaos (Matthew 21; John 2).

1 John 2 - John addresses "little children," "little children," "fathers." The younger are to submit to elder (1 Timothy 5:1; 1 Peter 5:1-6).

In the household, and in the church there is a divinely ordained order set forth in Scripture.

Crossing Over with Todd Tomasella and Travis Bryan III

    in Christianity

Death water flowing down out of City of Adam was stopped and gathered up in a heap. Sin flowing down to us out of Adam is broken by our death with Christ signified by crossing Jordan. They couldn't cross Jordan until Moses was dead (dead to law leads to abundant life).

Main focus is life springing out of death. Death to old man old creation represented by stones placed and left in bottom of Jordan. New man new creation springing out of death are the stones taken out (springing up out of burial in river) from bottom of river and placed in the land.
