SORT BY Relevancy
On today's episode, we cover conflict resolution within the church and with people. The number of people who consider themselves Christian continues to decrease. It's not that people no longer identify with the ideology. Many are leaving because they experienced disappointment, ran into hypocrites who claimed Christ but acted as if they were in league with the enemy, or had a disagreement with a fellow Christian that couldn't be resolved.
As Christians, the Bible gives us clear direction on how we're supposed to handle conflicts within the Christian body. Unfortunately, things rarely play out like that. How many of you feel comfortable going to your leadership with an issue and feel like it'll be resolved in a positive manner? How many of you have tried to calmly resolve a conflict with a fellow brother or sister in Christ only to be met with anger instead?
We'll talk about how we're supposed to resolve conflicts and what we're to do when the other party isn't following Biblical tenets.
Welcome to another episode of On Point. For today's show we ask- Why do we make resolutions? Why do we not hold onto resolutions? What is the origin of resolution making? Are they a necessity of the New Year celebration? In our segment- just an observation, we are going to discuss resolutions- the positive and negative. We want to hear from you and about resolutions that you have made and kept or perhaps...let dissolve into the ethereal void that is the New Year. We tend to each have our own unique perspective on a conflict and we also have a tendancy to bring our own personal values into our judgments about conflicts. I'll be sharing with you a story that involves some unique characters and their own methods of approaching conflict in there lives. By the end of the show today we will learn how our own perspective and values affect our outlook on a conflict, personal or professional.
We also have a special guest coming in today to talk about a personal conflict in their lives, Krystle Stevens!
Today we will be talking about the five approaches to conflict and the strengths and weaknesses of each approach.
The Tiger Approach: Contesting
The Fox Approach: Compromise
The Owl Approach: Collaboration

As well as having Colleen Battersby stop by for an interview about one of her personal conflicts!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY. WITH THE BEGINNING OF 2016, A NEW YEAR WHICH NOT SO LONG AGO SEEMED UNIMAGINABLE, THE CHANGE ON OUR CALENDAR OFFERS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO RENEW OURSELVES AND ESTABLISH NEW GOALS FOR OUR LIVES. MANY OF US BEGIN THE PROCESS BY MAKING NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS, FOR IT GIVES US A GREAT WAY TO ANALYZE OUR PAST THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS AND IDENTIFY OUR MISTAKES AND DETERMINE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO IMPROVE. FOR CHRISTIANS, OUR FIRST AND FOREMOST RESOLUTION MUST BE TO PUT JESUS FIRST IN ALL WE DO. AND WHILE WE MAY HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO ONCE AGAIN STATE IT, AS WE SHOULD BE DOING EVERY DAY,FOR AS MORTAL HUMANS WE KNOW THAT WE WILL SIN AND WE MUST DO ALL THAT WE CAN TO AVOID RECURRENCE.
WE CAN ONLY DO SO IF WE FIRST HAVE FAITH AND BELIEVE IN HIM AND THAT MEANS PUTTING HIM FIRST. AND DON'T FRET TOO MUCH, BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT WE WILL MAKE MISTAKES. WHAT HE IS LOOKING FOR FROM US IS HARD WORK TO AVOID THEM BY SEEKING HIS GUIDANCE AND MAKING OUR DECISIONS FROM IT. AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS A MAJOR PART OF WHAT BELIEVING IN HIM IS ALL ABOUT. WON'T YOU JOIN US THIS WEEKEND TO RENEW YOUR COMMITMENT? THE SHOW WILL BE AVAILABLE EARLY THIS WEEKEND AND THEN WILL REMAIN ON LINE.

Happy New Year everyone. Let's start this year God. Will your New Year resolution be more important than getting right with God? When will you put God priority? How long before you mess up your new year resolution? Who will judge you then? God knows of all the promises that you've made for this year. Is any of them getting right with Him? Is any of them going to church more, felloship more, love more, empower more, spending more time in the word? Is one of them repentence, is one of them forgiveness? Recheck your new years resolution, if God is not in it, you won't have solutions.

1 And I, brothers, when I came to you, did not come with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.?
2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.?
3And I was with you in weakness and in fear, and in much trembling.?
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,?
