At sacred or holy times alms are given to those in need. Alms are offered out of our abundance and our lack.
At different times in the process of life, some of us are the givers, and some of us are the receivers so, let's look at the words and actions and commands to "do good' in order to understand the importance of giving, tithing and free-will offerings.
Last week we looked at the concept of a holi-days and thier spritual and natural significance in the world. This week we delve into what it means to be a giver and tither and why it is so necessary to do at different times of the year.
Given for family events—birth, marriage, reunions, etc., and at times of personal need. Most often, private or individual offerings were given during the times of appointed feasts.
in The Bible
Tithing, first of all was a commandment in order to provide ancient Levites with a small percentage (10%) of what the land brought forth. Due to the fact THEY DID NOT WORK, as the other Israelites: Numbers 18:21, Deutronomomy 14:22-29, etc., the LORD in His wisdom commanded a small percentage of what we were given of the land, be given to them, so they could work in the LORD'S service as commanded in ancient times!
Second, this was a law FOR THE LEVITES (the ancient priests), the same levites THAT USED TO BE the priests and intercessors PRIOR to Christ taking over as the high priest and assuming the priesthood as THE MEDIATOR of our faith!
Third, tithes were never money! Tithes were 10% of fruits, vegetables, and livestock, NOT money: Leviticus 27:30-32, Malachi 3:8-10, Matthew 23:23, etc!
Furthermore, Tithing is a tradition of men, wicked men, which many blindly follow: Mark 7:6-7, Isaiah 29:13, YET IT IS STILL in error. We cannot serve the LORD the way we want: Luke 9:23, Proverbs 14:12, NOR CAN WE serve Him in lies: John 15:22, IJohn 2:21, Proverbs 30:5-6.
Wonderful man of God named David Lee wrote a book that details tithing and the fact that it is not listed anywhere in the bible. Well if so how did so many preachers and teachers con billions of people out of their hard earned monies, and why?
What does the bible really say concerning thihes? Other than the subject of salvation, tithing has been a big debate in many churches. Do we tithe, should we tithe, how much, and does the New Testament command us to pay tithes? Join us tonight @8pm as we open up this discussion concerning paying tithes.
In this chapter, God goes over five different offerings that He wants his people to be careful about presenting. The offerings represent the approved pathway for having sin covered so that communion with God is possible.
Today, we have direct entrance to the throne of Grace by faith. Because God is obviously a God of order, we should study the Word to find out how He wants us to approach Him in the age of grace.
Examples of how to approach God now include forgiving someone you need to forgive before leaving an offering and putting on love.
Tithing has always been a topic of discussion. As Christians we have received many teachings on the principle of tithing. However, have there been times when you struggled or are you struggling with tithing? Why? How does tithing relate to your faith? Do you believe you are cursed if you do not tithe? Have you gone so far to not pay your bills because tithing was your number one priority? Are some of you as Christian’s not attending church because you feel pressured when it comes to giving, or do you see giving as a part of worship unto God? Join us next week as we talk about tithing.
On today's show we will interview DAVID LEE, former Potters House Elder, who was kicked out of the church after writing his book, SUNDAY MORNING STICKUP: What Your Pastor Doesn't Want You To Know About Tithing!
Pastor Cornelius Simon will be with us discussing his coming to understand that tithing is not a commandment for Christians. He will also help to understand how that can be proven from the Scriptures. Be sure you don't miss this live testimony from our friend Cornelius, pastor of Christ's Messengers in Snellville, Georgia.
Giving is a part of worship. We learned from our callers that when it comes to tithing we first must hear from God. Second we must include God and third we must see giving not as a chore but a lifestyle. We are sons and daughters of the Most High God and as our faith matures so will I giving and our relationship to trust God in EVERYTHING! However, there are some who truly struggle. They wonder if they are under a curse not because they don't want to give but they don't have it to give. If you are a member of a church and you go to them for help because you are having financial hardships and they look to see if you tithe consistently to decide if they will help you, is that right? What if God tells you to give more than 10% would you? Please remember to press 1 to talk to the host so we can hear your comment!
