Next on: "Dying to be Married" with Winston & Sondra Lewis
Sunday 11/25/2012 @ 6:00 pm EST
Sunshine & Rain, Up's & Down's, Good times & Bad times, the Thick and the Thin! We all go through them within the course of our lifetime. Most people will fair well with you when life is good and conditions are favorable. But what about during life's storms?
Have you ever had someone say to you "I will be with you through thick & thin" only to have them leave you when it "thinned" out (loss of a job, health related issues, death of a loved one, family issues, incarceration or even in Ministry)?
Have you been in a relationship, where you said you'd never leave only to find the situation you faced to be more than you could bare? If you are divorced, did the marriage end when times were "thick" or "thin"? How can you really be sure if that spouse or potential spouse is really there for the long haul or a "Fair weather friend"? We are also blessed to be joined by our Special guest "Stanley & Linda Moriah" as they share their Powerful testimony of Faith, Trial, Commitment and finally Triumph!
Join us Sunday, 11/25/2012 @ 6:00pm EST as we will discuss the "Thick" and the "Thin" of marriage. Will you be there?
It's been said that the most brilliant writers have experienced the most tragedy, and from the pain of their past experiences they are transformed into poets who paint pictures with words. Khari is a living testimony to this truth! Born and raised in Oakland, California, he first began writing poetry as a young child while living in foster homes. Poetry was his therapy, an outlet that allowed him to purge his mind of the pain he endured as a youth.
His transition from literary poet to spoken word artist occurred during the summer of 2006, when he began performing at open mics and winning several poetry slams hosted by Hot Water Cornbread. His keen intellect, passionate flow and delivery, powerful voice and brazen lyrics quickly distinguished him from many other performance poets and spoken word artists. He exploded onto the Spoken word poetry scene during the summer of 2006 after performing at Mouth Off (a spoken word poetry venue held at Oakland's Air Lounge every Wednesday). He also began participating in the local poetry slam scene in 2006. Now, three years later, he's published a best selling poetry book, releasing over 20,000 spoken word mixtapes and performed at some of the top spoken word venues in the country, including Spoken Soul Sessions in New Orleans during the Essence Music Festival, Nuyorican Poets Café in New York, Soul Cypher in Oakland and Cafe Nuba in Denver. Within a three year period, he's performed at over 100 different venues and is currently in high demand to perform and feature at major spoken word events.
In 2014, Khari released his sophomore spoken word album, "Through Thick and Thin." He also released a book, "Curvy and Confident," a self-empowerment guide for women. Curvy and Confident is the first book ever written by a man to help women overcome low self-confidence, negative body image, and insecurities
It's called taking the "high road" through a very difficult time in the life of anyone going through divorce, especially those who were blindsighted to the fact of a possible divorce. The issues, the emotions, and the transitions are almost too hard to bear, but...still....it's there. So, how do you cope? What does God say about divorce and can God really help me through to this? That is a resounding YES!!!!
Bible Study Teacher, Lilly Landis, while going through her own divorce realized early on that the thought processes we pick up in God's Word can build strength, hope, grace, protection, provision, and enable you to deeply understand the human heart while going through divorce.
So...are you there now? Do you know of someone who is going through it? On our very first show, we will share in detail the kinds of features our programs will cover. At times, you will be able to interact with a guest and various major topics for all divorcees...you'll be able to hear some much needed encouragement as we go through God's Word, and every time you listen, you will have the opportunity to write out your own thoughts for that specific scripture.
Join us, next Monday, and 10:30AM as we begin this weekly radio show, where you can listen to this in your own private time, yet glean from God's Word where you need it the most! And please know that you can always go back to our archives if you missed our show. Please tell your relatives or friends of this much needed radio ministry...Healing Voice Radio. I, first, shared this show when our daughter, Juliana, was going through cancer treatments for the 4th time. I was having some pretty rough days dealing with seeing her go through so much health problems.
Some of what I share, in this show is:
Is it possible to increase your chances of "staging your breakthrough."
It has been said, “Fruit does not grow on mountaintops, but in valleys.”
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9) NLT
C. M. Ward said, "…no two people are meant to carry identical loads."
The "Iron Sharpens Iron" principle says that if you have someone in your life that does not have similar objectives, goals, integrity and character than they will not be effective in sharpening you.
Sometimes we get "dull" in our life quests and we need someone with like-motivation to encourage us to keep going. If you have someone with no drive or who does not understand that life is lived "on purpose" they will not be effective in helping you over hurdles.
As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. (Proverbs 27:17)
When we don’t have friends that challenge us and encourage us to grow, we grow dull.
