Sasquatch Watch Radio Welcomes Thom Powell

    in Science

Join us Tuesday night October 21, 2014 at 9pm eastern as we welcome Thom Powell to the show during the second hour of our 2-hour special show!  Thom will join us at 10 pm eastern, but before that anything goes!  Thom is best known as the author of the book, "The Locals".  Thom is a career science teacher, spending his entire teaching career in one oppressively small, poorly appointed, 1950’s era, converted kindergarten classroom at Robert Gray Middle School. He does his best to teach eighth graders earth science in the face of ever-dwindling school budgets and ever-increasing class sizes. He would have been committed to an asylum long ago if he didn’t live in a rural setting outside Portland, Oregon where he can spend a great deal of time exploring and appreciating the forests and rivers of the Pacific Northwest.  Join us for an exciting, informative show!

SUSAN BEDSOW HORGAN & THOM RACINA on Brandon's Buzz!

    in Television

A brand-spankin'-new DVD box set of classic episodes of the legendary soap As the World Turns has just been released, and since my new pal SUSAN BEDSOW HORGAN --- who was the head writer for World Turns for a time in the mid-'80s, and whose May 2011 appearance on Brandon's Buzz has been far and away my most popular installment of this year --- has some work included in this set (and since I'd been dying to have another chat with her anyway), I was thrilled to invite her --- and, as luck would have it, her great friend THOM RACINA, whose early-'80s work on General Hospital and Days of Our Lives is the stuff of soap legend, and who just happened to be visiting Susan the day I interviewed her --- back to Brandon's Buzz for another chat about a life spent spinning suds!

John W. Whitehead is an attorney and author who has written, debated and practiced widely in the area of constitutional law and human rights. Whitehead serves as the Institute’s president and spokesperson, in addition to writing a weekly commentary that is posted on The Rutherford Institute’s website (www.rutherford.org), as well being distributed to several hundred newspapers, and hosting a national public service radio campaign. Whitehead's aggressive, pioneering approach to civil liberties issues has earned him numerous accolades, including the Hungarian Medal of Freedom.

Elan Journo is a fellow in foreign policy at the Ayn Rand Institute, and the director ARI's Policy division. His book, _Winning the Unwinnable War_, looks at what went wrong with America's response to 9/11--and what we should do going forward in the face of an Islamist threat.  He has appeared on Fox News Channel, PBS and NPR affiliates, and numerous nationally syndicated radio programs, including The Thom Hartmann Program. He has been a guest commentator on Front Page with Allen Barton on PJTV.com.

Spiritual Jazz Fusion Guitartist Thom J. Lourim

    in Music

Thom began playing guitar at a very young age, music helped to deal with a broken home and never seeming to fit anywhere. Trained with a classical and jazz teacher, Thom switched to rock music and Jazz fusion and began performing and recording with various bands. During this time in between studio and touring despite growing popularity as a musician, Thom struggled as a very broken person covering the pain with alcohol, drugs and the accolades of playing music. During the 90's Thom toured all over the country, worked with artist's such as Jody Watley, Piece's of a Dream and doing session, his alcohol abuse at times put him on the streets and several suicide attempts. Seeming to live a double life as he continued to grow as a musician. In 2004, Thom hit bottom, and Jesus got through to him. Thom surrendered his life to Christ, walked away from drugs/alcohol and walked away from music, associating it with all the pain and suffering and began doing homeless, Hospice and poverty outreach as a way to heal and grow in Christ. In 2009, God instructed Thom to resume his music career, Thom was very reluctant but followed God's leading. Working with up and coming vocalist Angelia Robinson and with the band Pillar of Fire Thom was able to start channeling all he's been through, through the music and saw how God could reach people and change lives. Thom spent the next 3 years elevating with Jazz singer Lisa Gilliam, Vocalist's Tanya Blount, Mike Trotter, Iris Lewis and working with all kinds of artists, even HipHop. Thom formed the band The C and T Connection with Cassia The Poet who's testimony was similar and began an to minister with her and their band sharing their stories of hope and transformation. Thom also became Vocalist Tanya Dallas Lewis's guitarist again sharing the hope of Christ.
