Why is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ called the pagan name Easter? Find out from Theresa and Scott on Walking Among Spirits rebroadcast airing on Scott Hensler Network.
Scott was in Taiwan at the time of this broadcasts and gives his insight to the name “Easter” that has its roots in ancient polytheistic religions known as paganism.
Question is… why is the Christian church calling it Easter?

189:2.6.The Christian belief in the resurrection of Jesus has been based on the fact of the "empty tomb." It was indeed a fact that the tomb was empty, but this is not the truth of the resurrection. The tomb was truly empty when the first believers arrived, and this fact, associated with that of the undoubted resurrection of the Master, led to the formulation of a belief which was not true: the teaching that the material and mortal body of Jesus was raised from the grave.
189:2.7.The tomb of Joseph was empty, not because the body of Jesus had been rehabilitated or resurrected, but because the celestial hosts had been granted their request to afford it a special and unique dissolution, a return of the "dust to dust," without the intervention of the delays of time and without the operation of the ordinary and visible processes of mortal decay and material corruption.

We will look at the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it means for you and I. Jesus' Resurrection was not only for those who lived in his time but for everyone who would be born after that. That includes you and I and our future generations. It is important that we realize the importance of his life, death, burial and resurrection. Remember, the reason why we celebrate the easter season, is because of all that Jesus went through so that our sins would be forgiven, past, present, and future.
Late on the Sabbath it began to dawn toward the first day of the week. Women came to Jesus' tomb to finalize His burial. But, He wasn't there!
In Matthew 28 we meet a host of intriguing characters: women, angels, guards, Jesus, chief priests and the eleven. Each of them add to the fabric of the story.
The women expect Him to still be there. The angles know that He has risen. Jesus met the women and told them to remind His disciples to meet Him in Galilee. The guards shaking with fear and confusion ran to the chief priests. The Priests concocted a lie and bribed the guard to spread it. And the dsicples went to Galilee where Jesus gave them the Great Commission.
And so the story as told by Matthew comes to an end.

* The Urantia Book:. Meaning of the Death on the Cross
Although Jesus did not die this death on the cross to atone for the racial guilt of mortal man nor to provide some sort of effective approach to an otherwise offended and unforgiving God; even though the Son of Man did not offer himself as a sacrifice to appease the wrath of God and to open the way for sinful man to obtain salvation; notwithstanding that these ideas of atonement and propitiation are erroneous, nonetheless, there are significances attached to this death of Jesus on the cross which should not be overlooked.
Death is the last act in the mortal drama. In your well-meant efforts to escape the superstitious errors of the false interpretation of the meaning of the death on the cross, you should be careful not to make the great mistake of failing to perceive the true significance and the genuine import of Jesus' death.
Mortal man was never the property of the archdeceivers. Jesus did not die to ransom man from the clutch of the apostate rulers. God never conceived of such crass injustice as damning a mortal soul because of the evil-doing of his ancestors. Neither was Jesus death on the cross a sacrifice which consisted in an effort to pay God a debt which the race of mankind had come to owe him.
