Cedar Falls, IA became Ground Zero for launching a Presidential drive for gigabit community-owned broadband throughout the U.S. Learn how this 20-year old network took center stage last week as the latest beacon leading cities nationwide on the path to faster, better public-owned broadband.
Broadband is driving Cedar Fall's economic activities. Listeners get a detailed breakdown of the city's progress since upgrading to a gigabit network a year ago from Bob Seymour, Planner III/Economic Development. Curtis Dean, Broadband Services Coordinator for the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities provides insights to expected developments in the state's broadband future.
President Obama held up Cedar Falls as a great example of the value of public braodband networks in helping to meet America's highspeed Internet needs, and why we need giant service providers to stop blocking communities' ability to become the next gigabit success story. Our guests offer listeners advice on how their communities can overcome the challenges of these statutes.
Raul Castro ups the ante for "normalized" relations with Cuba; Traditional pillars of Israel’s security have begun to erode; Obama White House absolves the Taliban of all charges of "terrorism"; Obama’s disastrous policy of repatriating enemy combatants dates back to his earliest days in office; and, time permitting, some down-home "cornpone politics".
In this episode I want to discuss the doctrine of forgiveness found in a book written by James Freeman Clarke, and I will read from this book throughout this podcast.
Our country is leaderless. Voters realized this in November and voted for change in Congress. Voters want Congress to reverse the leaderless Obama administration with strategies to prevent the continued decline of the United States that Obama is helpless to address.
The utter failure of the Obama administration can be measures in so many ways, from the number of beheaded American journalists, to embarrassing heads of state by spying on German Chancellor Angela Merkle’s personal mobile phone, to callously calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a war hero, “chicken shit” and a “coward.”
The Mature Minor Doctrine is a common law doctrine created in most states through judicial rulings. The doctrine accepts that an unemancipated minor may possess the maturity to choose or reject a particular health care treatment. Illinois’ version of the doctrine was created by the 1989 Supreme Court of Illinois decision, In re E.G. Most recently, the Doctrine was discussed in a Connecticut Supreme Court case where the court unanimously ruled that a 17 year old girl can be forced to undergo cancer treatments against her will. This podcast with attorney Sarah Flohr will discuss the Mature Minor Doctrine and how it could affect unemancipated minors in the state of Illinois.
