Does racism exist in America? Are people blinded and in denial when it comes to wether or not race matters? Where were we before all the racism began and how do we get back to where we once were prior to the racism? Through the ancient Hebrew and Egyptian cultures the clothing was the only thing that set them apart. Race as we know it did not exist then. So, why is it so blatant here in America? Please tune in and listen to this evenings show and hopefully you'll have some of these questions answered.
In light of recent events in the United States, some commentary on the intellectual nature of racism and its flaws. Included, building up a more robust explanation then the "because it is" explanation commonly implied in media commentary or in elementary schools.
Also including the analogous commentary on sexism and prejudice generally.
Racism in America is not like racism was a century ago. Once upon a time Blacks accepted being treated as property. I'm not referring to the days of slavery. I refer to the time after slavery was abolished. Blacks most definitely was referred to as a lot of things none of which we'll talk about here. After slavery Blacks were acceptant of names, and adjectives to describe their actions. Blacks were told what to do and when to do it. Racism was a way of life for Whites and Blacks. Blacks were oppressed and just staying alive and not being beat was a successful day. Through all the troubles of daily life Blacks kept the faith, did the work, and made the necessary changes to gain respect of the people they now slaved for scraps and basically pennies. Change wasn't easy for Blacks nor the majority race then nor now. Even when we want change, when others fight against the change or just refuse the change it is most difficult to change. America we must change our actions toward one another. We must end institutional racism before racism destroy America. Racism is real. Racism is visited upon Blacks daily by Whites. There is no Black racism. Skin supremacy exist but today it is more money than skin
The host at SevsDeadSerious is amazed by the level of racism we must endure in this country especially from those that are retained to "protect and serve". My question is who are they protecting and serving; it certainly isn't minorities, the poor or anyone who doesn't look, act, or sound like them, besides it's way too easy to take your gun, shoot the offending minortity, poor or whatever and then claiming it was in self-defense bewcause you THOUGHT he had a gun, or might have a gun, or owns a gun or can spell the word gun...now that justifies execution by police outfitted in gear meant for the battlefield when dealing with those you hated long before they issued a badge. It must be part of the law-ewnforcement courses we teach those who are meant to "protect and serve"...maybe we should protact ourselves from those whose duty it is to protect and serve. Racist cops on board for the Douche Bag of the Week.
Everyday people with your host Monica Douglas Davis will have a candid talk about racism in America.
Has racism change from the civil rights to the present day 2014?

Before we discuss the when and why of racism being socially and polically acceptable again in America, let's see if we can decide what racism is. America fully understood racism in the 50s & 60s. Whites explained it then as that's the way things are. That's the way it is supposed to be. Black people were to know and stay in their place. White people were not to voice any other opinon. Today, there is a crumped up different meant to racism. Some will say racism is being intolerate of an entire race of people. This I don't buy, the reason being if racism is being intolerant of a group of people, explain how you are being intolerant toward me and people who look like me. Being visably intolerant is to show up in decision making toward me. Being visably intolerant is behaviour that becomes part of my life and my life's choices. That word racism is applied when visably there are actions involved that harm individuals that are members of a group of people. Black people! There is another part of racism that make racism America's reality. The other part is White priviledge. If racism is intolerance for an entire group than White priviledge is acceptance of an entire group. Could a White person be racist toward his own group of other White people? If there is such a thing as White priviledge, is there also Black priviledge? Do both White priviledge and Black priviledge have the same behaviours and consequences in our society? Now, why is racism now politically and socially acceptable in America here in 2014? My answer is because the elite was once above showing racism. Since 2008 the elite put a stamp of approval on racist actions and language and those who worship the corruption of the elite took up the cause. Racist remarks are again acceptable and those not willing to partake could find themselves friendless. Recall pre 70's USA!
America is into rose color glasses. Americans only want to see certain things in certain ways. It may be OK to pretend we are not 50 pounds over weight. We can just buy a larger size of the same outfit. Then we don't have to face the truth. Is it never OK to wear rose colored glasses when it is about our own health and well being. It is not OK when it harms society. This country was once was young, but now we are old. America is old enough to have fixed broken from centuries ago. It is time for America face the facts of our history and grow up. Repent and fix the mistakes past and present. This is the only way we all can begin to heal. America was the land of the Indians. Whites immigrated to America and stole America from Indians. White sea Captains stole Africans and brought them to America to sell to plantation owners to use as free labor. Africans that survived the trip to America were beat into submission to obey White men. Animals and Africans had basically the same value. Property of White men. Africans were stripped of their language to prevent plotting to escape. Africans were property of Whites until 1865. Africans were freed, yet freedom for many lead to sharecropping on some of the same plantations where they slaved in bondage. When Black begin to use their skills to produce and make money, Black code laws were put in place to keep Blacks dependent on Whites. Immigrants entering America were blended into the social order of the country, putting immigrants above Africans. Africans by now were viewed very negatively by all. African either submitted to being characterized as nothing, or they were beat brutally or hung by the neck until dead and left to be seen by all other Africans who dared to not accept racism in America. After the Civil Rights Act of 1965 racism put on rose colored glasses. 2008, the glasses come off.
Is there Racism in the Justice system? Is Justice the same for Black and White People?
Or is the real inequality economic injustice?
Will the statistics really answer the question?

How do we over come the racism in our country? With people like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson and Malik Shabazz race bating the issue and now the KKK is starting to race bate and get their voice out.
I would like to get everyone's view on racism , what racism is to them, and if they believe that it is dying , changing, or nonexistant in America. White, brown, yellow, and black Americans views on the same issue are needed to see where we all stand, because ,even if we don't stand together, we can fall together. Is there a privilege with being one race vs another or is there a disadvantage with one over another? When you think of America, what comes to mind? Does every child in America have the same any other? Does the ugly past still affect our futures? Is the ugly past of america really our history or has it evolved into something else today? Does sex or sexuality play a role in the American 'dream'?
Trans-National Corporations like Monsanto, Haliburton, Wall Street, and everything affiliated with the Koch Brothers, continue to plunder America and the World in the name of wealth. We are in a Class Warfare as 25% of children, in the richest Nation on Earth, go to bed hungry every night. Righteous indignation is provoked because of systematic unfairness.
It’s an epidemic where America has institutionalized racism, Class Warfare, narcissistic culture where everyone wants their “15 minutes” of fame and the ugly scorge of Sexism. All these bad things are based on the whimsical stupidity of the few, and the dumbing down of the Masses by the richest 1%, the Oligarchists. The 1% own 96% of the Media and are able to spread fear and misinformation. This goes hand in hand with their efforts to kill public education for good. It is a proven fact that America will no longer be dominated by White People. The GOP does a great job in motivating their unabashadly ignorant, and mostly uneducated, base through irrational fear.
Fear which leads to anger. Anger which leads to resentment. Resentment which leads to hate...
Even though the South is being screwed royally, and unlubricated by Republicans, that section of America, demographically dominated by "old school" Caucasians, refuse to see that the GOP cares nothing for Working Families nor the Middle Class. All the South and the Bible Belt sees is a "Marxist/Leninist/Socialist Mooslim “thug” in the White House". The word "thug" is the new "N" word.
Racism is alive and well in America. What do we do to erase it? What are some of the solutions. We want to hear from you friends...
