    Host Adilah Barnes brings actress, comedienne, author, playwright and TV personality Kim Coles back to BlakeRadio to have a talkfest as only two show biz personalities can do.
    Best known for her zany comedy, Kim Coles began her Hollywood career as the runner-up in the “Big Beautiful Woman” pageant in Atlantic City, NJ. She began to model and later did standup comedy.  Best known for her five-season turn as the unforgettable “Synclaire” on FOX’s comedy series, Living Single, her other TV appearances include a stint on Frasier, Six Feet Under, In Living Color, One on One and the uproarious TBS comedy series "10 Items Or Less."
    Kim co-hosted on the syndicated daytime talk show, In the Loop with iVillage and has been a guest co-host for various shows, including The View and Good Day Live. Ms Coles is also known to reality audiences for having appeared on The Mole and VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club. Kim later added game show host to her extensive resume with BET’s groundbreaking show Pay it Off, becoming the first African-American woman to host a primetime game show. She also appeared as a co-host of the game show “Are You Normal, America?” on the OWN Network.

    Host Adilah Barnes talks with two-time Obie Award winner actress/producer Charlayne Woodard who's theatre credentials include The Witch of Edmonton, In The Blood, Stunning and Fabulation. Other notable performances include Sorrows and Rejoicings, The Good Person Of Setzuan and The Caucasian Chalk Circle. She was nominated for Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her role in the original company of Ain’t Misbehavin’.  Her first solo play, Pretty Fire received LA Drama Critics and NAACP awards for best play and best playwright.
         Charlayne’s  film credits include: Things Never Said;Unbreakable and Around The Fire. TV credits include Run For The Dream: The Gail Devers’ Story; The Wedding; Sister Peg on Law and Order, Special Victims Unit, ER, and Terminator: The Sarah Connors Chronicles.            Charlayne trained at the Goodman School of Drama and received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from DePaul University.

    Host Adilah Barnes speaks with Starletta DuPois who co-starred in the Pan Africa Film Festival's top prize winning film, "Ties That Bind," co-starred with Phillip Baker Hall in "Duck," and costars with Louis Gossett, Jr. in the critical acclaimed film "The Least Among You." Television audiences are well acquainted with DuPois via her recurring role on the runaway hit "Lost" with Harold Perrineau, "Cold Case" with Thom Barry, and "K-Ville" with Anthony Anderson. Also ABC's "One Life to Live," "The Road to Galveston," co-starring with Cicely Tyson, "City of Angels" "Chicago Hope," "The District," "The Steve Harvey Show," "Any Day Now," "Through Hazel Eyes" with Jane Seymour and HBO's "Strapped," as well as a series' regular on PBS' "Up and Coming." Her theatrical roots include: "Intimate Apparel," "Before It Hits Home," August Wilson's "King Hedley II"-all of which garnered prize nominations, as well as, the coveted Woodie King, Jr. Award for her work as Best Actress in a Drama during the 2005-2006 season. A graduate of The University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Starletta received a 1978 Tony Award® nomination in the category of Best Featured Actress in a Play for "The Mighty Gents," written by Richard Wesley.

    The Adilah Show with Guest Margaret Avery

    Host Adilah Barnes invites as her guest singer and actress Margaret Avery best known for her role as Shug Avery in the film, Color Purple.  She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role In Color Purple in 1985.
    Born in Mangum, Oklahoma and raised in San Diego, California. Ms. Avery attended Point Loma High School. Later, San Francisco State University where she earned a BA in Education.  Shortly thereafter, she began singing and acting on the stage.  Among the plays Margaret appeared in were Revolution and Sistuhs. She appeared in "Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie?" in 1973, receiving the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for "Performance In A Major Role."  She performed in the television movie "Something Evil" with Sandy Dennis and Darren McGavin, directed by Steven Spielberg; "Cool Breeze," as Marilyn Monroe "In  The Asphalt Jungle," a prostitute in "Magnum Force" and she starred in The Jacksons: An American Dream.
    TV guest appearances include: The New Dick Van Dyke Show, Kojak, Sanford and Son, Kolchak:  Miami Vice, The Night
    Stalker, A.E.S., Hudson Street, Murder She Wrote,
     Spencer  For Hire, The Cosby Show, Walker, Texas Ranger, and JAG.  She played Mama Jenkins in "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins", opposite Martin Lawrence and James Earl Jones and in Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns."  

    Avery also works  with at-risk teenagers and battered women of Greater Los Angeles.
