Chip Kelly out as Eagles coach; Jets,Steelers,Colts, Texans alive for two spots

    in Sports

Week 17, in the NFL, does not have all the drama for clinching a playoff berth. However, there are a handful of important games that mean division titles and home playoff games. 10 of the 12 playoff spots have been clinched. The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers are both alive heading into their Sunday matchups. The scenario is simple. A win by the New York Jets and they are in. The Steelers need to beat the Cleveland Browns and hope for a Jets loss, to make the playoffs. The Houston Texans or Indianapolis Colts will secure the fourth seed, in the AFC. If the Texans take care of business and win, they will clinch the AFC South and make the playoffs. Should the Texans lose and the Colts win, a tiebreaker on strength of schedule will determine the AFC South champion.

The biggest game of the weekend has been flexed to Sunday night. The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will battle for the NFC North title. The Packers have won the last four division titles, and the Vikings last division title was 2009. The AFC West is also up for grabs. The Kansas City Chiefs who had been written off early in the season can win the division if they win and the Denver Broncos lose. Denver will also clinch a first round bye with a win or Cincinnati Bengals loss. The Carolina Panthers and Arizona Panthers have clinched first round byes but home field advantage has yet to be determined. The Panthers will clinch home field throughout the NFC playoffs with a win or Arizona loss. The same scenario is true for the Cardinals. They need a win and a Panthers loss to claim the number one seed.

After week 17, black monday is the day that coaches are sent packing. The Philadelphia Eagles didn't wait until the season was over to release Chip Kelly. Kelly made some head scratching moves in the off-season, and they didn't pan out. The Eagles were eliminated from the playoffs after week 16, and now Kelly is searching for a new job.

New York Jets Vs. Texans More than losing a game

    in Football

The New York Jets in a Must win situation - did'nt. They're no longer in the AFC Wildcard Picture. The Texans have Some quality Defensive Players and one special wide reciever named DeAndre Hopkins.

The Jets lost more than a game, more than a playoff spot. They lost their star Defensive back Darrelle Revis to a concussion and Center Nick Mangold to a right hand injury that required stitches.

Each week the New York Jets have had a new and different problem costing them the game; excepting their Special Teams which have been a problem from the start of the season. This Team needs Offensive line help. A pass Rush and a sense of urgency.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and his injured companions had player execution problems again this week; Kenbrel Thompkins was inactive in favor of Devin Smith, who again could not deliver. Does Todd Bowles have what it takes to win situational Fooball and are he and Chan Gailey on the same page?

Let's talk Dolphin's. Yes, they're 6 -4 but that does'nt mean this Jets Team will beat them this Sunday.

Join Hosts Herb LaLane (@ThaKingofQueens) and James Boyd (@OneJetDrive) as we break it down and talk about our position in the AFC East and conference.

Texans back in action; Rockets looking for rhythm; Zina Garrison's Tennis Party!

    in Sports

Butch Woolfolk was the New York Giants first round draft pick in 1982 after a standout college career with the Michigan Wolverines. Woolfolk is now a successful businessman, proud husband, father and grandfather. He’ll join the show to talk about the game today; his life away from the game and how he’s managed to build on the success he had on the field. And of course he’ll talk a little about the Houston Texans and share his thoughts on where they are and what they need to get to the next level.

We’ll also have some insights from the NBA. The game has changed since I covered my first game in 1986 (remember… I started in this business when I was 12!), but a lot of things have remained the same. We’ll talk about some of what made the NBA great back in the day and what makes it great today.

And we’ll take a took at what’s happening around college football. Is the University of Houston still undefeated? Just how good is this Cougars team? What about Prairie View and Texas Southern? The SWAC Championship is headed back to Houston so it seems fitting that we talk about the goings on in that league.

As always there is your part. What would you like to hear and/or talk about on this week’s show? Let me hear from you before hand or join us live. Whatever you decide it will be a fun hour of sports talk, infotainment and edutainment.
