It was a packed crowd at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska Saturday night, most of them there to see hometown star Terence Crawford defend his WBO lightweight title against arguably his toughest and most high profile opponent of his career in Yuriorkis Gamboa. It was a good night for those fans, for more than a few reasons, as they were treated to a fantastic fight between two incredibly skilled warriors in the main event of HBO’s Boxing After Dark. The first round started off with Gamboa getting into a comfortable rhythm and dictating the fight’s pace. The hand speed of Gamboa was on full display and he was using his laser right hand behind a steady, albeit lackadaisical jab. Gamboa continued to showcase his speed and was finding his distance, getting in and out of his opponent. But it was clear that Crawford was beginning to get settled in there and his speed was starting to showcase itself in the form of well-timed counter punching. With overall matchmaking options boxing narrowing and becoming more limited and asterisk-laden, we've had to relax our standards some, even if only out of a survival instinct. No, boxing is not dying or limping or anything like that, but the last two months or so have given us surprisingly entertaining fights from bouts that, beforehand, were either considered tune ups or technical match ups. Lucas Matthysse-John Molina wound up a splendid fight indeed, Robert Guerrero-Yoshihiro Kamegai slugged its way into our hearts, and this past weekend, Terence Crawford went all Travis Bickle on everyone and mopped up Yuriorkis Gamboa. As Bad Left Hook's James Foley is on vacation, joining Patrick Connor this week is Queensberry-Rules and Transnational Boxing Rankings Board Chair Tim Starks. Also likely to be covered: Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs Erislandy Lara, Evander Holyfield's retirement, more Golden Boy and Top Rank vs Al Haymon and Richard Schaefer nonsense, etc. Thanks for tuning in!

GOLDRUSH: A story about moving from a small town to make it big in California and all the unexpected bumps along the way. A theme that relates directly to actors but also anyone who's struggled with making it on their own. Based on this writer/director's own experiences, as well as those of his lead actor.
Here at Queensberry Rules Radio, we hope that nobody is taking our prognostication skills seriously. Basically when we predict a fight will end a certain way, just assume the opposite will happen. For instance, last week we predicted that the fun Showtime tripleheader we watched would probably suck, and it didn't. Robert Guerrer-Yoshihiro Kamegai was surprisingly competitive, Vasyl Lomachenko's clinic win over Gary Russell Jr. was high quality stuff, and even Devon Alexander vs. Jesus Soto Karass had a few momenths of intrigue. This week on TQBR Radio, Bad Left Hook's James Foley and Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules cover that card, probably incorrectly, and preview this weekend's HBO card featuring Terence Crawford vs Yuriorkis Gamboa. Joining the blustery bloggers this week is author and Grantland editor Rafe Bartholomew. Thanks for tuning in! (Photos in slideshow: Joe Miranda)
Carl Lindbergh attended California State University Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in film production in 2000. Shortly after graduation, Lindbergh formed his first production company, ANOC productions i.e. A NO ONE CARES PRODUCTIONS. The company would primarily focus on the funding and production of his feature films.
The Bunny Man character was inspired by the true story of an axe-wielding man in a bunny suit who terrorized residents of Fairfax County, Virginia in 1970. Going wild with that inspiration, writer/director Carl Lindbergh and his company ANOC Productions created and released Bunnyman in 2011. Despite mixed reviews, the film gained a sizable following and has been known to play back-to-back on the cable TV channel Chiller.
