    Women in Technology

    in Business

On April 29, my guest be Anna Murray, the President of TMG-eMedia.  Anna is a nationally recognized technology consultant, speaker and blogger. One of an extraordinarily rare species—a woman who owns a successful softwaredevelopment company— she loves to combine her two passions, technology and writing. Anna writes on technology from a variety of vantage points, including its humorous impact on daily life, its serious business applications, and its role in changing the way people relate to one another. After spending several years as a teacher and journalist, Anna founded one of the earliest web-development firms, eMedia, in 1996. Over the years emedia has been privileged to partner with many national and international firms such as The Kellogg Corporation, Keebler, Del Monte, Bayer, Spire Capital, Wind Point Partners, National Cancer Institute, The National Institutes of Health, International Creative Management, Consumer Reports, Summit Business Media, Time Out, Harvard Business Publishing, Slate, and The Atlantic Group in developing strategy, implementing solutions, and developing cutting edge applications. Anna is a double winner of the Stevie Award for Women in Business, a recipient of a Mobile Marketing Association award for mobile app development, several Kellogg top agency awards, and most recently Folio's Top Women in Media Award. She also serves as the President of the Board of the International Women’s Writing Guild, a non-profit organization devoted to the development of women’s voices in professional writing. In addition to numerous articles for web sites and magazines, Anna has written several full-length books, including two business titles, Resume Builder & Career Counselor (Simon & Schuster, 1997), The eMarketing Guidebook (Marketing Sherpa, 2004), and a novel, Sarah’s Page (Sleeping Bear Press, 1998).

The Importance of Good Web Design

    in Business

Your website is the center of all your marketing efforts be it online or more traditional marketing. This is where potential customers or clients find out about you, your products and services. A site that is well designed brings more credibility to you and your business. It should show that you are serious about your business. Did you know that the average person makes up their mind to continue staying on a website in mere seconds and if they do stay they only read 30% of the text? Google recently announced that mobile responsive sites will rank higher as more and more people use smart phones and tablets to access the internet.

Our Guest today Galia Silverberg with Media Refuge will be discussing why it is so important to have good web design, some common mistakes, branding, and the must haves for good web design. If you have created your own website or are thinking of creating your own website, you will want to listen to this discussion and call in with your questions

    Technology is Why You're Broke

    in Technology

Ever wondered how your parents made less money than you, but still managed to maintain the household?  At one time, I did, too.  I used to think that my parents made so much more money than I did, but once I got older I realized that they didn't.  I finally realized that they didn't have as many bills as I do.

My parents didn't have a cable bill, cell phone bills, or internet.  My DirecTV, $110, cell phone, $100, my Internet service, $51.  That's $261 per month that my parents didn't have to deal with when I was a kid.  Mix in Netflix, Xbox Live, and the NFL Sunday Ticket and a lot of my paycheck goes to things that aren't a necessity.

Technology is why a lot of us are broke.  We've gotten so addicted to luxuries that we've made them necessities.  How can we improve our discipline?  Do we really need to raise minimum wage or just cut certain luxuries out of our lives?

All of this and more on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "No experts.  Just opinions."

    Show No. 476

    Scheduled for 75-90 mins.
