Tattoo Zoo: A Novel of the Afghan War

    in Legal

Paul Avallone, USA "spent three-plus years in Afghanistan as a Green Beret then an embedded civilian journalist." Paul Avallone is the author of Tattoo Zoo: A Novel of the Afghan War.

According to the book description Tattoo Zoo "is a novel that could only have been written by a veteran of more than three years in the Afghan War -- as a Green Beret then a civilian embedded journalist. America's longest war is compressed into a charged forty-six hours with the GIs of the Tattoo Zoo platoon trapped fighting a fierce Taliban in a nowhere piece of picturesque real estate called Wajma Valley, as they are left hung out to dry by a politically correct four-star command hell-bent on prosecuting them for war crimes or just letting them die in place.

You will be taken into the heart and soul of the American soldier -- from private to general. You will be with the soldiers, you will be with the command, and you will be swept into the Afghan War on a visceral level of extreme verisimilitude.  If you've been in the war, you will recognize and feel those hours and days and months, and you will want others to read this to understand what you lived.

If you haven't been to the war and only know Afghanistan from blips you've seen on TV news, It will put you there, and you'll know it.  No need here to detail the characters, but you can count on remembering Wolfe and Doc Eberly and Redcloud and St Claire and Dove and Finkle and Victoria Marshall and a whole slew more. This is a big novel, and not meant for the casual reader expecting some throw-away weekend-read thriller. There is nothing pretentious or artificially artistic or overly intellectual about the language here; just the opposite, the reading is easy. In fact, there's enough character and story and conflict here that there's no need for false literary styling meant to impress other writers and professors of hoity-toity MFA programs."

4-15-15- Dr. Hildy: NANO WORLD - Neurospheroids and NanoSensor Tattoo Monitoring

    (2:00-4:00pm Mountain; 3:00-5:00pm Central; 4:00-6:00pm Eastern)

The NANO WORLD of Neurospheroids and Nano Sensor Tattoo Monitoring

Over the last twenty years, the art of the tattoo has become one of the most common forms of art around. As more and more people of all ages are taking to body art as a form of self-expression, tattoos have become a social norm, and no longer hold the stigma they once did. But what happens when a tattoo becomes more than just art?

This week on One Cell One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy welcomes returning guest, Melinda Kidder, owner of Columbia Investigations, to discuss the future of tattoos and how they will figure in to nano sensor monitoring. In previous shows, Dr. Hildy has touched on the idea of spray-on bio-sensors that will be able to monitor a number of conditions within your body.

The idea of a permanent bio-sensor, especially with the national trend of focusing on your personal health, would be appealing to many. Recently Motorola introduced the concept of a tattoo that could not only be used for monitoring, but also for authentication purposes - no longer will you need to remember a password to get into your devices or a website....MORE at website >> https://onecellonelightradio.wordpress.com/2015/04/15/dr-hildy-melinda-kidder-neurospheroids-tattoo-monitoring/

Chris Delaney – Tattoo Artist/Owner of Almighty Ink in Asbury Park

    in Radio

Tattoos. More and more Americans are getting inked according to a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. In 1999, approx 21% of the respondents said someone in their household had a tattoo, and today that number has risen to 40 percent. Military veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces have the most ink -- 36 % have a tattoo. I’m a fan of tattoos as well with 5 small ones in various private locations. But mostly I’m a huge fan of tattoo artists and fascinated by their artistry and ability to create amazing designs on the human canvas. Tattoo artist Chris Delaney established Almighty Ink in 2002 in Asbury Park as a private studio to focus on creating large format full body tattoos for discerning tattoo enthusiasts. If you want a tiny butterfly on your ankle, you’ll have to go elsewhere. Chris began tattooing at the age of 16 and purchased his first professional tattoo equipment in 1989 and began implementing his vision of custom tattoos. He is proficient in most tattoo styles but prefers to work in a bold and expressive fashion, as well as exploring the more obscure low-brow art genres. His influences vary widely, and he consequently enjoys a special clientele that allow him to freely express his creative ideas. Chris chooses his clients based on their unique tattoo desires and as to whether it fits his personal style. After the interview, please visit After Hours At Jersey Coastal Live.

Double Header Night: Tattoo & Parental Rights Termination Wahala!!!

    in Relationships

Whoop!!! We got 2 topics hence..... Double Header no pun intended!

    Lol....

    Topic 1

A lady asked, "It's my birthday next month and I really want to get a tattoo to celebrate myself but my husband says No! Should I still go ahead, after all it's my body?"

    Topic 2

My Ex terminated his parental rights to avoid paying for child support which I was fine with because I can and do take care of my daughter. He has always disappointed the poor girl, no visits, no hugs, no relationship with my child so why even bother? Out of the blues he messaged me that he had a terminal disease and would like to visit his daughter, I agreed. He cut the visit pretty short and I vowed not to let my child go through that pain ever again. Only for me to find not long ago that he had a family, was settled and doing well. I am very upset and bitter that he could not love his first child just because!!!

He will never see his child again! Am I wrong for now not wanting him to ever see his daughter again???

There you have it folks!!!! Join us at 8:30pm Tuesday lets swap tales!

    Btw.... I have a tattoo ??????
