Milling About visits the Bath Street Inn in Santa Barbara, California. Host Robin Milling chats with co-owner Deborah about this lovely 1895 Victorian home which was gifted by Mr. Hales to his wife Abigail for their 50th wedding anniversary. In fact, Deborah tells Robin that The Abigail Room is the former master bedroom where guests have reported sightings of a white-haired woman sitting on the edge of their bed. This however was 15 years before their time with the inn so Deborah jokes that perhaps she's moved out!
The Bath Street Inn is a mixture of the old and the new with eight guest rooms. We stayed in The Rose Room, aptly named for the wallpaper which has a jacuzzi; perfect at the end of a long day walking downtown Santa Barbara. The newer Summer House with fireplaces and jacuzzis is adjacent to the wisteria covered courtyard where breakfast is also served. And breakfast is a healthier vegetarian alternative which Deborah says was put into place because the former owner wasn't exactly a morning person! Each morning homemade granola with seeds and nuts is served along with fresh fruit complimented by gourmet-style meatless dishes. You will never miss the meat or taste the difference as they are delicious as well as nutritious. During our stay we were served peach-topped croissant french toast, baked pear with ginger sauce, eggs florentine with raspberry muffins, and pain perdu with cherry berry stuffing...yum!

The recent memo from the Attorney General’s office baring local and state police from using federal asset forfeiture law to seize cash, cars and other property without warrants or criminal charges represents the most sweeping check on police power to confiscate personal property since the seizures began three decades ago as part of the war on drugs. Our first guest is Omar Figueroa, a Sebastopol lawyer who has been involved in many precedent setting marijuana cases as well as in the politics of marijuana prohibition. Attorney Figueroa will explore the ramifications of this new memo and take a look at how this will affect medical marijuana patients especially in light of the feds new hands off policy in medical marijuana states.
A lawsuit filed by the anti-drug group Safe Streets and three other plaintiffs including the owners of Holiday Inn target a number of Colorado lawmakers, including Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), Revenue Department Executive Director Barbara Brohl and Marijuana Enforcement Division Director W. Lewis Koski. Going a step beyond simply suing the state, the plaintiffs are also going after participants in Colorado's commercial marijuana industry. Citing federal racketeering laws, the plaintiffs are seeking damages due to alleged injury brought on by legalization.
The Marijuana Policy Project is not taking this legal action lightly and has called for a boycott of Holiday Inn Hotels. MPP Communications Director Morgan Fox is the show’s second guest who will take a look at the lawsuit and explain how the boycott will be carried out.

Most people know the coastal calm of Ventura, California from the America song "Ventura Highway." But, when you put COMEDIAN GREG REIFSTECK in this chill place, there are bound to be some fireworks. Along with his lovely companion JEANELLE, he storms the town for a Valentine's/ President's Day Weekend holed up at redundantly named Pacific Inn Motel.
Their DAYS are filled with unknowingly wearing Satanic shirts to the SanBuenaVentura Mission, enjoying the Busy Bee Cafe for a killer brunch, pints of craft beer at Barrelhouse 101 and worshipping the glorious beachside and the historic Ventura Pier.
Their NIGHTS take them to the savory slabs of meat at the Saloon BBQ, the homey Grapes and Hops and the insanity of the Bombay Bar and Grill, complete with a wild performance by the unique Electric Liberace.
