Happy Mommy Monday girls! Let's rock this week! XO, Kristin
Tanya Marie Harris admits to being somewhat of a late bloomer as far as Country Music goes. “Growing up, we listened to a lot of Rock more than anything. My mom never listened to Country – unless it was Patsy Cline,” she recalled of her formative years in Ontario Canada. However, a trip into the Southern United States changed all of that.
With “Second Hand Dreams” out at radio, Tanya Marie Harris turns her attention to her upcoming project release. “It will be a seven song EP, and four singles are available at the moment,” she says. It was exciting to go through all the songs, and see what stirred something in me. I had a couple of songs in mind, and ended up sitting down with a writer named David Norris, who brings a lot of substance to lyrics – he’s a deep thinker. We sat down and hit it off from the start. I told him that I wanted to write something that showed that I appreciate where I came from – not a man hating kind of song that was going at the time. From that, we developed the idea that by living my dream, I was living my family’s dream,” she said in discussing her single.

Join Tanya Mercado as she discusses the issues of the day. Tonight's topic: Promoting violence through social media. More than "trolls", there are some websites that incite violence such as worldstarhiphop.com. Why? What purpose(if any) do these sites have?
Hundreds of infants and toddlers as young as 2 years old have been allegedly apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol while crossing the border illegally without a parent or guardian in the past year according to recent reports. The report states that roughly 52,000 unaccompanied minors have been apprehended since October 2013. “Apprehending infants and children can be difficult for Border Patrol agents; our facilities are not designed with people that young in mind,” said Shawn Moran, a spokesperson for the National Border Patrol Council. House Republicans rejected a Senate-passed comprehensive immigration reform package last year that would have provided a path to citizenship for an estimated 8 million of the more than 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country.
What’s your take? Should these unaccompanied infants and toddlers receive a path to citizenship? Should President Obama use his executive powers to push through a comprehensive immigration reform package?
