Tallis Piaget Stops By To Discuss "Black Boogieman"!

    in Books

This book follows Dr. Trenton Branch, a scientist whose extremely meager upbringing came from his grandmother and the cruel inner city streets. He grows to become a world renowned biochemist, living in one of the wealthiest suburbs in the country. One miserable day while visiting his old neighborhood a calamity occurs; this incites the rage of a rabid pit bull within Dr. Branch. He then unites a group of men, waging war against the inner city in an attempt to excise all of its demons. Sparking what some called the “Civil War of 2020” this controversial story touches on all of the untold secrets of black America, while providing a fast past, page turning tale of violence and knowledge. With graphic imagery and heart pounding action this book is sure to leave the reader wanting more.

Chalked with witty banter and an introspective look into the soul, Black Boogiemen is a tale of humanity’s ongoing struggle between love and hate, right and wrong. How far are you willing to go to bring peace to your city, to your country, to your world? This book will have you crossing the lines.

More Psycho"therapy:" Human Development and Education

    in Psychology

How does good psycho"therapy" create positive change in the stories we live by? "Therapy" is a form of personal education whose goals are simliar to all good education. Good education is therapeutic and proper therapy is educational! When educated within relationships based on respect, good discipline, and if we are lucky, love we learn to set goals, develop necessary skills, and think more maturely and critically.  Tonight we will discuss the ideas of Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky and others involved in creating a theory of good education.

Positively Autistic: The Autism & Homeschooling Journey

    in Education

This is part 3 of discussion on Teaching & Learning Styles. I ran out of time on the last show, so this week I will discuss Jean Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development and Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence theory.   On the last episode, Nov 11, I discussed many teaching ideas for the various learning styles and insight into our family's journey.    Show #2, Oct. 28, was a basic overview of Teaching & Learning Styles - VARK: Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, Kinesthetic/Tactile learning, boys vs. girls & left/right brain dominate learning.    My first show, Oct. 14, was an introduction to our family's autism & homeschooling journey.
All resources mentioned on the show and many others, will be located at Journey of Learning Academy on Facebook.
Remember, this radio show is for you, the parent of an autistic spectrum child and I'd love your feedback, questions and input so I know what you want or need to hear! You can always reach me on Facebook as Erika Schron or Journey of Learning Academy, http://www.facebook.com/JourneyofLearningAcademy

Positively Autistic: The Autism & Homeschooling Journey

    in Education

First, I would like to give recognition of Military Veterans around the world!! This day is in honor of you for serving & protecting your country.   This is going to be a continuation of our last show about Learning Styles.
Two weeks ago, I discussed boys vs. girls, Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing & Kinesthetic/Tactile Learning Styles, as well as Left/Right Brain Dominated Learners and some tips of how to teach all of them.  This week I'd like to talk about Jean Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development and a bit more insight into our family's journey with autism & homeschooling to answer some questions that I've been asked through the years:
What makes you qualified to teach your children? How do you know what to do without a teaching degree, without special ed experience? How does your child gain the skills necessary to progress and become independent?
Remember this show is for you, so please call in with questions or comments and feel free to contact me via Facebook at Journey of Learning Academy.

Developmental Psychology and the Stories We Live By

    in Psychology

From the moment that we are born we are bathed in stories and from a very young age we begin our own life as story tellers. But the stories we hear, and those that we tell reflect the cognitive development of the teller and the listener. The great developmental psychologist Jean Piaget decribed four levels of development. How we interpret our world and selves are very different based on the developmental level of the stories we live by. The political stories now dominating public discourse increasingly seem to be structured around the type of logic and perception that defines early and middle childhood rather than those we might expect from adults. We will discuss the nature of these differing types of stories and the disastrous consequences taking place here in the US as well as all over the world.

Larry Flaxman-Marie Jones & Lisa Cohen, Ph.D., on Scott Cluthe's Positively Incorrect!

    in Spirituality

Scott Cluthe has 3 guests tonight live. First, he talks with co-authors Marie Jones and Larry Flaxman. Together they comprise the ParaExplorers. We'll discuss their latest book, The Trinity. Then Scott interviews Lisa Cohen, Ph.D. Lisa has produced The Handy Psychology Answer Book, which gives us short hand psychology insight that transends either "pop" psychology or dusty academic work that the average person finds no use for.
Millions of people recognize the Holy Trinity, but few understand that the concept behind it goes far beyond any one religion or belief system. What if the Trinity was an ancient code, a formula, a SECRET so simple, yet so powerful, it could change the way we look at our relationship with the Creator, and with creation itself?

Marie D. Jones is the best-selling author of "2013: End of Days or a New Beginning," "The Déjà vu Enigma: A Journey Through the Anomalies of Mind, Memory and Time," and "11:11 – The Time Prompt Phenomenon: The Meaning Behind Mysterious Signs, Sequences and Synchronicities." Larry Flaxman is the best-selling author of "The Déjà vu Enigma: A Journey Through the Anomalies of Mind, Memory and Time" and "11:11 – The Time Prompt Phenomenon: The Meaning Behind Mysterious Signs, Sequences and Synchronicities."

In The Handy Psychology Answer Book, Lisa J. Cohen, PhD endeavors to provide answers to approximately 1000 questions regarding the study of the human mind in an easy-to-read Q&A format. Dr. Cohen states that her inspiration for writing this book was the realization that the general public lacks knowledge of the latest scientific research in the field of psychology, whereas in the past, researchers such as Skinner and Piaget were household names.

The purpose of this book is to bridge the gap between the actual research that is taking place in the field and the “pop psychology” that has become popularized by the likes of Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura.
