Born without arms, Jessica Cox could have succumbed to the low expectations that ushered her into this world. In spite of them all, she earned two black belts in Taekwondo, graduated from college, and learned to swim, drive a car, fly an airplane, surf, scuba dive, and live independently using her feet in ways others who take their hands for granted can only imagine.
We’re excited to have Jessica Cox back on Savvy Central Radio. Jessica is World's First and Only Licensed Armless Pilot, who joined us back in February to talk about her upcoming documentary on her life called “RIGHTFOOTED”. They are now in post production and anyone interested in donating can go to: www.rightfootedmovie.com
We are also joined today by her husband and Director of Operations Patrick Chamberlain and Molly Feltner Communications Officer at Handicap International.
Today we’ll be discussing the recent advocacy work Jessica and Handicap International have been doing in Ethiopia. We’ll also discuss their work with the "International Disability Rights Treaty" which they are lobbying to get passed through the U.S. Senate.

After appearing in a Kentucky Fried Chicken advertisement, Cynthia ventured into action movies. Her first full-length motion picture was "Yes Madam," alongside Michelle Yeoh. Jessica Cox was born without arms in Sierra Vista, Arizona, in 1983, and yet her list of accomplishments easily surpasses anyone who’s born with a complete set of limbs. Nobody really knows what caused her condition except that it was an unusual birth defect. Her parents and their extended families first expressed their apprehension and even helplessness for the small newborn Jessica. Inez, her mother, was particularly worried on who will take care of her when she grows up. Her father, however, never shed a tear. He believes she can do greater things—he was absolutely right. Moving Her Feet To be truthful, Jessica and her family didn’t have a well-paved road ahead of them. But Jessica, who had now grown into a beautiful teenage girl, was very persistent. After her powerful dance performance at school, where she received some of the loudest applause, she trained for dance for more than 10 years. Before she even graduated high school, she had already earned a black belt for taekwondo under the tutelage of Jim Cunningham. Read Full Story...

This week on Third Eye Cinema: the man behind Miami Connection, Grandmaster Y.K. Kim!
Yes, this is a man who has only been involved in one film to date…but what a film it is! A black belt in Taekwondo in his native Korea by the ripe old age of 13, Kim came to our shores in the very shadow of Ellis Island to pursue the American dream from the bottom up, without any real proficiency in the English language or promise of steady work. After establishing himself in his new home base of central Florida, Kim was given the opportunity to write, cast, produce and star in a unique and extremely entertaining piece of grindhouse history, intended to promote the value of Taekwondo and incorporating rock music, bikers, drug dealers, and even Florida based ninja into its all too brief running time! Now better known for a chain of martial arts schools in the southern region of the East Coast, as well as making a name for himself as an infomercial maven and inspirational speaker, Kim joins us to discuss his story, his philosophy on life and martial arts, and the amazing Miami Connection! Join us for a positively charged, good humored interview with a true force of nature: Grandmaster Y.K. Kim, only here on Third Eye Cinema! http://www.facebook.com/ThirdEyeCinema http://thirdeyecinema.wordpress.com/
