Have you ever been abused or experienced church hurt or know of someone who has testified of such occurences in the church? Spiritual abuse has been defined as "a kind of abuse which damages the central core of who we are. It leaves us spiritually discouraged and emotionally cut off from the healing love of God."
Ronaldd Enroth, author of Churches That Abuse, explains that the hurt and harm of spiritual abuse is rarely inflicted upon people with the intention to wound anyone. Most spiritual abuse is inflicted by Christians who are very sincere, who believe they are obeying the Bible in sharing Christ with others, and who often believe that they are being led by the Holy Spirit.
"Do the abusers intend to inflict hurt? In most cases, probably not. They usually are unaware of what they are doing to people in the name of God. They may, in fact, be convinced that their behavior is what the Lord has mandated. What others interpret as control they may view as caring for the flock. They are usually so narcissistic or so focused on some great thing they are doing for God that they don't notice the wounds they are inflicting on their followers".

Spiritual abuse and church hurt is a widespread issue amongst congregants in the Body of Christ. Spiritual abuse and church hurts is defined as the mistreatment of a person who is in need of help, support or greater spiritual empowerment, with the result of weakening, undermining, or decreasing that person's spiritual empowerment" (Scott Nicoly, 2006). In a manipulative church, the pastor or senior leaders can try to put undue influence on the choices that people in their congregation are making. They can also sway someone’s decision in a matter to keep them under their control, or to keep them from leaving the church. This is also called charismatic witchcraft.
People in a controlling church are often told they cannot leave the church with God's blessing unless the pastor approves the decision. They are warned that if they don’t follow the pastor’s guidance, not only will God not bless them, but they will also bring a curse upon themselves or their family. Leaving the “covering” of the church and the controlling pastor will result in some sort of calamity.

February is supposed to be the month of love and romance. The year is 2015 and in January and February the lives of Trans Woman have not matter because 6 have already been killed. There is no national or local uproar for justice for the families, friends or the victims. There are no marches scheduled through social media with expecting crowds of 1000 or more expressing outrage. There are however organizations that are raising theirs voices and hoping you join them as this is a trend that MUST STOP NOW. Joining co-host Ina, Michelle and Terry Wednesday night, February 25th will be Monica Roberts, aka the TransGriot, is a native Houstonian and a trailblazing award winning trans community leader. She has lobbied since 1998 for trans human rights protections at the federal, state and local levels in Kentucky and Texas. January 2006 she founded the award winning blog TransGriot. We will talk about why the deaths of 6 transgender women have had little mainstream media attention, no community leadership out cry, nothing. New Orleans LGBT youth of color activist group, The BreakOUT stated in the Feb 10th news story, "The silence and lack of action from media on behalf of the Black transgender community sends a strong message that Black Trans Lives, in fact, do not matter." At last count 5 black transgender women and 1 Latina transgender woman have lost their lives. Where are the black and latina leaders that scream when a black or latina man or woman are killed for no reason? When does a human life not matter and who determines that?
