In this episode of the JRNYMN Conference Call with Sean Pronger, brought to you by JRNYMN Wear and C3 Development & Representation, former Calgary Flames forward and 1989 Stanley Cup Champion Colin Patterson joins Sean on the call to reminisce and share stories.
After attending Clarkson University, Colin signed with the Flames as a free agent and made his NHL debut in 1983. Joining a team that was on its way to becoming a powerhouse in the Campbell Conference and NHL, he shut down the opposition's best offensive players throughout his 10 seasons in the league. The Flames lost a hard-fought series in the Stanley Cup Final to the Montreal Canadians in 1986, but in 1989, it was Calgary's turn to lift the Cup in victory.
Did you know that the Flames were the only team to defeat the Montreal Canadians on Montreal Forum ice and win the Stanley Cup? Colin not only discusses those two Finals and the "ghosts of the Forum", he also reveals the answer to a 25-yeal old mystery - who made the mistake of pranking Lanny McDonald on one of his worst days?
A great episode for hockey fans that remember the Smythe Division of the 1980's, you don't want to miss this episode of the JRNYMN Conference Call!

So I was listening to the Colin Cowherd show on ESPN Radio this morning, and he was totally misreporting what I have been reporting. Lucklily, I have the telephone number to the studio, so I called Colin and he put me on the air.
And from there, I put up with him trying to ascertain who my source is on my LeBron James-to-Cleveland story. And I held my ground.
Rarely have I been under as much scrutiny as I am now after reporting Wednesday that LeBron is returning to the Cavs. Since it is my job to defend myself and defend my reporting, I did just that with Colin. I think the both of us ended the interview happy with how it went.
Give a listen, and you will learn a little something about reporting, sourcing and the way the newsbreaking business works.
While Joseph Campbell “covered the mythological waterfront,” he never wrote a book on the Goddess. However, he had much to say on the subject. Between 1972 and 1986 he gave over twenty lectures and workshops on Goddesses, exploring the figures, functions, symbols, and themes of the feminine divine, following them through their transformations.
These lectures, which are the basis for the new book Goddesses: Mysteries of the Feminine Divine, have been in Campbell’s archival collection since his death in 1987. The material has never been heard or read by anyone other than those who originally attended the lectures. So Goddesses offers completely new, previously unpublished material for new and long-time Campbell fans alike. It is also the only book in Campbell’s collected works that focuses on his ideas and study of goddess mythologies through time and culture.
Edited by today's guest Safron Rossi, PhD, executive director of the Opus Archives and Research Center where Campbell’s archives are housed, Goddesses documents how Campbell’s work from the 1960s to the 1980s showed how the symbolic systems of the older goddess traditions survived in various forms, despite 2,000 years of patriarchal and monotheistic repression in mythologies and religion. “I believe this was one of the ways Campbell was addressing the importance of women finding and articulating what these ancient myths mean for women today, but from women's own perspectives and voices,” says Rossi. “The book also shows that Campbell was not solely focused on the male hero or experience of myth, but also studied and reflected on the feminine divine and goddess traditions.”
