On this week’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, we’ll be reviewing Mad Max: Fury Road! Is it really as good as critics are saying? Has George Miller outdone himself this time? Can it stand proudly alongside the likes of Mad Max 2? Does it raise the bar for action/adventure films? Is Tom Hardy a worthy successor to Mel Gibson? Should Fury Road be looked at as a reboot, or sequel? Does it continue the saga of Max Rockatansky as we have always known him, or is it a new beginning? Does the film promote a feminist agenda, or should it merely be taken as post-apocalyptic action yarn? Should George Miller be counted among the greatest action filmmakers of all time?
We’ll also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Rambo: First Blood Part II! How does it stack up to the original First Blood? How did it end up becoming more iconic than its predecessor? Just what were James Cameron’s contributions to John Rambo’s second outing? Was the character misappropriated by the Reagan/Bush administration? Did Stallone always intend for him to be a rugged individualist instead of a Right Wing icon? What does the future hold for America’s most iconic one man army? We discuss.
We’ll also be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Amerikkka’s Most Wanted! Is it the greatest solo debut of all time? Was it the primary influence behind Ready to Die and Good Kid, M.A.A.D City? Is it the single greatest gangsta rap album ever made? Did Ice Cube and the Bomb Squad create a blueprint that every single rapper since has followed? Was it embraced by the east coast solely due to the Bomb Squad’s involvement? Will we ever see it’s like again?
