    Today, my amazing guest is Terrell Sandefur.  Terrell is the Director of the Macon Film Festival in Macon, Georgia.

    Terrell Sandefur is a visionary leader, a relationship broker, publicist, and founder and owner of The SoChi Gallery - an art and event venue in Macon, Georgia. 


    He has put Macon on the world's map in the film industry.  Movie Maker Magazine name MFF as one of the "Top 25 Cooliest Film Festival in the World."


    He is the immediate past president of the Macon Film Festival and has served as the film festival marketing chair and emcee since 2006. He is also a member of the Macon Film Commission, past president of the Macon Arts Alliance and a 2009 Cultural Award winner. A proponent & promoter of indie filmmaking and filmmaking in Georgia, he has worked on several films in a variety of capacities, including media relations, social media management, casting, location scout, production manager, prop master, actor and producer. He has helped facilitate several films to be shot in Macon.


    Terrell currently lives in Macon, Georgia with his wife, Kim, and twin teens, Wyatt and Nina.

    Kevin Macdonald won an Academy Award as director of One Day in September, which was voted Best Documentary Feature in 2000. Mr. Macdonald’s 2003 feature Touching the Void became the highest-grossing British documentary in U.K. box office history. The film won the Evening Standard and BAFTA Awards for Best British Film. His first non-documentary feature was The Last King of Scotland. Forest Whitaker’s performance as Idi Amin earned the actor the BAFTA and Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other honors. The movie additionally won BAFTA Awards for Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as BAFTA (Scotland) Awards for Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor (James McAvoy). Mr. Macdonald was named Best Director at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle won the Best Technical Achievement BIFA. He next directed the Washington-set thriller State of Play, starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck, which earned him a London Critics’ Circle Film Award nomination; the Roman epic adventure The Eagle, also for Focus Features and Film4, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell; and the wartime drama How I Live Now, starring Saoirse Ronan and Harley Bird, both of whom received British Independent Film Award nominations for their performances.Concurrently, Mr. Macdonald’s feature documentary work as director has continued apace with Marley, his acclaimed film about Bob Marley’s life and work, which received BAFTA and Grammy Award nominations, among other honors ; and Christmas in a Day and Life in a Day, both of which showcased footage contributed by filmmakers all over the world in 24-hour periods.     Director Susan Seidelman

    Susan Seidelman began her filmmaking career in 1982 as the director and co-writer of the independently produced SMITHEREENS which became the first American Independent Film accepted into the Official Competition of the Cannes Film Festival. In 1985, Susan directed DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN, starring Madonna and Rosanna Arquette which was nominated for a French Oscar for Best Foreign Film and is included in the BBC’s list of Top 100 films of all time. Susan went on to direct several other feature films including MAKING MR. RIGHT, COOKIE, SHE DEVIL (for which she recevied a Golden Globe nomination ) and GAUDI AFTERNOON. In 2011 Susan directed MUSICAL CHAIRS, a movie about a wheelchair ballroom dance competition that premiered at Lincoln Center’s “Dance on Camera” festival and was recently nominated for an “Astaire Award” for best narrative dance film. Her latest film “THE HOT FLASHES” (2012)  stars Brooke Shields and Daryl Hannah and is scheduled for release in the summer of 2013. Susan has also directed television series and films for ABC, CBS, HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central and PBS.  Among the highlights of her TV career was directing the pilot and early episodes of  SEX AND THE CITY.

    Marishka Phillips - Broadway Actress - Director

    MARISHKA S. PHILLIPS


    Broadway actress, accomplished director, and thespian guru, Marishka S. Phillips is an actor’s actor with an extraordinary wealth of talent.


    A native of Brooklyn, New York, Marishka began performing at age of eight, and by the time she was thirteen, was cast in the European tour of Raisin, a musical version of the popular play A Raisin In The Sun. Upon graduating from Springfield Gardens High School, Marishka honed in on her skills at the prestigious Alvin Ailey School of Dance, the Broadway Dance Center, and Fordham University, where she studied theater arts.


    Marishka’s big break came at the age of nineteen when the budding actress landed a feature role in the Broadway musical, Uptown: It’s Hot. Directed by the legendary Maurice Hines, Marishka found her niche on stage, and would go on to star in a host of other musicals, including Bubblin’ Brown Sugar, FAME: The Musical, The Wiz, and The Me Nobody Knows.


    During a quick stint in Los Angeles, in 1991, Marishka made the move to television, scoring bit parts on the last two seasons of The Cosby Show and it’s spin-off A Different World, but by 1997, Marishka found herself back on stage, and spent the next ten years touring Europe in big budget plays and musicals. Covering over eight countries, Marishka performed various roles in productions such as Tribute to the Blues Brothers, Ludwig: The Musical, and Teatro Piazzo. In between stage work, in 2002, Marishka released a musical recording on Hinterland Records entitled The Hike, and in 2007, released At The Waterfront on Mole Listening Pearls. Under the mentorship of renowned acting coach, Susan Batson, Marishka returned to New York and continued studying the are of acting.
