    Tom Malloy Discusses New Approaches to Film Financing

    Tom Malloy has raised more than $25 million in private equity from independent financiers and has written, produced and starred, or co-starred, in nearly all the films.    Some of these films include ASHLEY, which starred Nicole Fox and Michael Madsen last year, LOVE N’ DANCING, directed by Rob Iscove, and stars Amy Smart, Billy Zane, and Betty White; and the psychological thriller THE ALPHABET KILLER, directed by Rob Schmidt, and starring, Timothy Hutton, Tom, and Oscar Winner Melissa Leo.  In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Tom is an accomplished author whose book BANKROLL: A New Approach to Financing Feature Films is considered the “gold standard” of indie film financing instruction. A second edition came out in 2012.

    Robb Pratt is a Disney veteran, having started at Feature Animation in 1994 as a traditional animator. After animating on such modern Disney classics as “Pocahontas”, “Fantasia 2000”, “Hercules” and “Tarzan”, Robb eventually joined Disney TV Animation as a storyboard artist where he has boarded such shows as “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and “Kim Possible”. After directing the Disney Channel hit series “The Replacements”, Robb joined DisneyToon Studios as a story artist on the PLANES franchise.     Profile:Jon Turteltaub/Director/National Treasure Trilogy

    As one of the most consistently successful feature directors in Hollywood, Jon Turteltaub has captured audiences' attention with his powerful and emotional films including "The Kid," "Instinct," "Phenomenon," "Cool Runnings," "While You Were Sleeping" and "3 Ninjas." Turteltaub also produced and directed the blockbusters "National Treasure" and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" which grossed a combined $800 million in worldwide box office.  Continuing his successful partnership with the Walt Disney Company, Jerry Bruckheimer and Nicolas Cage, Turteltaub directed "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" which grossed over $200 million worldwide.  Turteltaub most recent film LAST VEGAS was released winter 2013, with a terrific cast including Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas and Kevin Kline.  He is currently working alongside Dan Lin (LEGO MOVIE) to develop a feature film for Disney based on the iconic amusement ride SMALL WORLD, and hopes to begin production on the 3rd installment of "National Treasure" sometime next year. Turteltaub contributed to one of the most successful television mini-series in history, "From the Earth to the Moon," when he directed the seventh episode of the series "That's All There Is," which portrayed the camaraderie of the crew of Apollo 12. He was nominated by the DGA for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television. Jon Turteltaub was born in New York and raised in Beverly Hills.     Director Susan Seidelman

    Susan Seidelman began her filmmaking career in 1982 as the director and co-writer of the independently produced SMITHEREENS which became the first American Independent Film accepted into the Official Competition of the Cannes Film Festival. In 1985, Susan directed DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN, starring Madonna and Rosanna Arquette which was nominated for a French Oscar for Best Foreign Film and is included in the BBC’s list of Top 100 films of all time. Susan went on to direct several other feature films including MAKING MR. RIGHT, COOKIE, SHE DEVIL (for which she recevied a Golden Globe nomination ) and GAUDI AFTERNOON. In 2011 Susan directed MUSICAL CHAIRS, a movie about a wheelchair ballroom dance competition that premiered at Lincoln Center’s “Dance on Camera” festival and was recently nominated for an “Astaire Award” for best narrative dance film. Her latest film “THE HOT FLASHES” (2012)  stars Brooke Shields and Daryl Hannah and is scheduled for release in the summer of 2013. Susan has also directed television series and films for ABC, CBS, HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central and PBS.  Among the highlights of her TV career was directing the pilot and early episodes of  SEX AND THE CITY.
