Our guests this morning are Chef and Owner of The Ripe Choice Catering Kitchen, Tammy Lipps and Chef Laura Mandracchia owner of Cake Bakeshop. Also joining us are Gretchen Tiernan and Megan Richardson of Sand Spa.
In addition to her husband, Mark Lipps, her local catering kitchen and The Ripe Choice-To-Go business are part of a family of three boys, one dog, three fish and a tortoise. They have one son out of college, one in college and one still in high school.
In 2011, Chef Laura Mandracchia became the owner of Cake Bakeshop. Laura comes from a long line of bakers as both her grandmother and great grandmother were bakers in Denmark. Laura’s greatest culinary influence and hero is her Mormor (mother’s mother in Danish). Whether they were making something as simple as coffee and pastry, going to the Farmers Market or the “olive oil guy” in Napa, food was always there. She taught Laura that sometimes you need “just a little bit - not too much “ when adding that special ingredient. “Everything I bake has a touch of Mormor.” It is quite easy to see that this is what Laura was meant to do.
All of these businesses are located in the North End area of Manhattan Beach. We’re going to discuss their efforts in the continuing development of the North End business community.
