    Sunderland

    in Entertainment

Sunderland, an up-and-coming group of all-American, clean cut rockers who can be seen on tour this August with Bowling for Soup. This pop/rock/alternative band is currently part of the “Wherever You Are Tour” alongside Honor Society, Action Item and Katelyn Tarver, and is constantly demanding attention wherever they are. Their first album already a hit, a second EP is in the works with famed record producer, Linus of Hollywood (Smashing Pumpkins, Bowling for Soup, Jennifer Lopez, to name a few) and plans for an accompanying music video are well on their way.

Straight from the quaint town of Hood River, Oregon, Sunderland chose their name after lead singer and guitarist, Mckinley Kitts’ middle name in order to keep their brand a universal icon. Along with Dylan Bauld on bass and backing vocals, and Vaughan Heppe on drums, the trio later welcomed new-comer guitarist Zachary Grace to the team and released their hit first album, “A Change of Pace,” soon after. Having already opened for numerous national touring acts including Play Radio Play, The Dangerous Summer, and Hedley, these “unsung heroes” left their small town ways in search of fulfilling their big time dreams. Whether it’s adding a talented new member to the group, touring the northwest and beyond, or writing more of their captivating lyrics, Sunderland’s dreams are quickly becoming a reality.

With song lyrics of “these are the nights we will never forget,” these crowd pleasers and passionate performers aren’t going to have anyone forgetting a performance like theirs any time soon.

The grace period is over, Aston Villa need to beat Sunderland

    in Soccer

Let's ignore Crystal Palace, eh? And how about we ignore the first 90 minutes of Tuesday's Capital One Cup match. Will anyone be upset if we do that? No? Great.

With that in place: VILLA ARE UNSTOPPABLE. Two goals in just 30 minutes and none allowed? Watch out Sunderland, we're coming for you And the 0-4 drubbing we put on in March is going to feel like Child's play. By my calculations of what happened against Notts County, Villa are on pace to... wait, we don't make predictions here.

Instead, we talk about Crystal Palace and Notts County (yes, even the first half), and look ahead to Sunderland. Plus we've got a bumper crop of twitter questions this week, so we'll get to those as well!

Aston Villa: Two wins and a road to Sunderland

    in Soccer

We're BACK with another scintillating Holtecast. Coming fresh off of two wins over West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa will be looking to put even more distance between themselves and the relegation fight this weekend. The trip to Sunderland comes as seemingly the entire defense is injured or dying, but improved performances in the past few matches are giving us a little bit of hope.

Before we get to that, though, Jack and I look back at Saturday's glorious, amazing, wonderful, FA Cup quarter-final victory over the Baggies. Was this what we can expect going forward? Which goal was the best? How terrible and horrifying were the crowds rushing the field? What will happen when civilization falls thanks to those same mobs?

We answer all of those, your questions, and more.

The Truth About Sandy Hook With Wolfgang Halbig

    in Politics

Wolfgang Halbig has lived a life of serving the public as a law enforcement officer, school official, and school safety expert.

Formerly the Executive Director of the National Institute for School and Workplace Safety, Wolfgang Halbig has recently formed a new safety and security company, WK & Associates. Previous to founding NISWS, Mr. Halbig worked in public education as a teacher, dean, assistant principal, principal, director of an alternative school and as the Director for School Safety and Security of the Seminole County Public Schools, a school district of approximately 65,000 students.

Mr. Halbig also has law enforcement experience as a former Florida State Trooper in Miami, Florida, and as a United States Customs Inspector. As a result of his unique background in both law enforcement and education, Mr. Halbig has been invited to provide presentations and keynotes to a variety of audiences, including the National Education Law Conference, the National School Board Association, the Oklahoma School Board Association, the Illinois School Board Association, the New York State School Board Association and the Florida School Board Association. Mr. Halbig has also been featured on NBC Dateline and CBS Good Morning America.

Mr. Halbig visited Sandy Hook and addressed the Newtown School Board about the circumstances of the alleged event, where the school appeared to have been abandoned by 2008 and then used as a prop for a drill, which was conducted on 13 December 2012 and then taken “LIVE” the following day, where we have even discovered the FEMA Manual for the exercise.  Since this time Mr Halbig has many questions about the Sandy Hook event he cannot get answers for, and as a former state trooper, and expert witness at other school shooting cases including Columbine. He was even paid a visit by police telling him to back off.

Next year will be better for Villa

    in Soccer

Over the Christmas period, Aston Villa were presented with a chance to dig themselves out of trouble. After reviewing the last two matches, we discussed possible transfer targets that could be heading to Birmingham in the coming month. To conclude transfer talk for the week we speculated on which players could leave the club. Things haven't exactly gone to plan, and it's starting to look pretty bleak. We got a lot of Twitter questions, like one asking the best and worst matches of the year. We wrapped the episode up by previewing Sunderland, a true do-or-die match.
