THEME: The Struggles, Concerns and Fears around Finding a Higher Power
Dr. Dawn Obrecht - Medical Doctor, Addictionist, Professor and the author of “Who's Your Higher Power: Finding a God of Your Own Understanding”
THIS WEEK’S MESSAGE:
A new Harris Poll finds that while a strong majority (74%) of U.S. adults do believe in God, this belief is in decline when compared to previous years as just over four in five (82%) expressed a belief in God. Also, while majorities also believe in miracles, heaven, that Jesus is God or the Son of God, the resurrection of Jesus Christ the survival of the soul after death, the devil, hell and the Virgin birth these are all down from previous Harris Polls. Yet, a recent Pew Forum Survey on Religion in America detailed Americans' deep and broad religiosity, finding that 92 percent believe in either God or a universal spirit -- including one in five of those who call themselves atheists. More than half of Americans polled pray at least once a day. What are some of the current day struggles, concerns and fears around Americans believing in or finding a higher power?

Why me? Why now? What is God doing? Suffering is a tool God uses to get our attention and to accomplish His purposes in our lives. It is designed to build our trust in the Almighty, but suffering requires the right response if it is to be successful in accomplishing God’s purposes. Suffering forces us to turn from trust in our own resources to living by faith in God’s resources.
Suffering is not in itself virtuous, nor is it a sign of holiness. It is also not a means of gaining points with God, nor of subduing the flesh. When possible, suffering is to be avoided. Christ avoided suffering unless it meant acting in disobedience to the Father’s will.
What is suffering? What are these bends in the road that God puts in the path of life that we are to carefully consider? Simply stated, suffering is anything which hurts or irritates. In the design of God, it is also something to make us think. It is a tool God uses to get our attention and to accomplish His purposes in our lives in a way that would never occur without the trial or irritation.

This show inspirational author and speaker Aimmee Kodachian will help us all take the necessary steps to keep fighting forward through the stuggles we deal with in our own lives everyday.
Aimmee Kodachian is the author of “Tears of Hope", her riveting true life story of a young Middle Eastern girl, who lived 13 years through the Lebanese Civil War. She was only 12 years old when a bomb killed her older brother right in front of her. In the blink of an eye, her family would soon lose everything and become homeless.
Aimmee was faced with enormous obstacles and many challenges. Due to her severe dyslexia and the war, she was forced to leave school at the 4th grade, lost her dream of becoming a teacher and was left with no opportunities or hope. Aimmee was persuaded into marriage. The ceremony took place only three days after her 14th birthday. At 15, she became a mother. When she was still a teenager, she became a single mom and was left with no education, skills or money. It was up to her to figure out how to feed her daughter while dealing with the War and the culture’s belief system. Her daughter became her “WHY” and that kept her going day after day, despite the tragic loss of many family members.
We hope that this show will inspire you and aid you in living your dream.
