LIfe After Christianity 101: The Stockholm Syndrome.

    in Religion

What causes so-called black Christians to love a deity who doesn't keep "his" promises to "his" followers? Why do they love their oppressor in spite of the harsh treatment that riddles the so-called black community? Join formerly licensed, national minister Empress T to discuss if and how Christians may be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

Empress T is a recovering Christian who is 41 months clean after 44 years of indoctrination, and celebrates her sobriety date on Dec. 27th. She has devoted much of her time to sharing what she has learned about the mental effects of Christianity in the Black Family. She is a former National licensed Minister under one of the largest churches in the U.S, a former Armour Bearer to 2 pastors and a bishop, and a former Sunday School and bible teacher.

Empress T is also entering her second year (in June) as a student at the University of Metaphysics in Arizona and is obtaining a degree in Transpersonal Psychology.

    Children with Down Syndrome

    in Self Help

He will be focusing in particular on communication issues and social attitudes towards children who have this disability.

Safdar argues that society should have a more positive and supportive attitude towards Down syndrome and not to be so ready to write off children with this condition

     He States

“We should refrain from assessing these children through their disorder or infirmity and we should be on our toes to take these children on our radar. Society has great obligation towards these children. How can we write them off? They are our children and they are one of us. How can we draw a barrier against these children? As able-bodied people, we should provide the opportunities so that they meet the challenges of life in a milder manner. If they are able to stand up, and become functional in society “

    WHAT IS IT?

In 2003, Duke jolted academe with a report describing how its female students felt pressure to be “effortlessly perfect”: smart, accomplished, fit, beautiful and popular, all without visible effort. At Stanford, it’s called the Duck Syndrome. A duck appears to glide calmly across the water, while beneath the surface it frantically, relentlessly paddles.

It's easy to see how this could contribute to a feeling of loneliness and helplessness.

    WHY I’M THINKING ABOUT DUCKS:

    Because Ellie is obsessed.

Because I have suffered from both sides of effects of duck syndrome

    WHY TO FIGHT AGAINST IT:

Change your goals (go against perfectionistic thinking and other people’s opinions / strive to significance, not success)
