St. Stephen - The First Martyr

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

St. Stephen - Stephen's name means "crown," and he was the first disciple of Jesus to receive the martyr's crown. Stephen was a deacon in the early Christian Church. The apostles had found that they needed helpers to look after the care of the widows and the poor. So they ordained seven deacons, and Stephen is the most famous of these.

God worked many miracles through St. Stephen and he spoke with such wisdom and grace that many of his hearers became followers of Jesus. The enemies of the Church of Jesus were furious to see how successful Stephen's preaching was. At last, they laid a plot for him. They could not answer his wise argument, so they got men to lie about him, saying that he had spoken sinfully against God. St. Stephen faced that great assembly of enemies without fear. In fact, the Holy Bible says that his face looked like the face of an angel.

The saint spoke about Jesus, showing that He is the Savior, God had promised to send. He scolded his enemies for not having believed in Jesus. At that, they rose up in great anger and shouted at him. But Stephen looked up to Heaven and said that he saw the heavens opening and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

His hearers plugged their ears and refused to listen to another word. They dragged St. Stephen outside the city of Jerusalem and stoned him to death. The saint prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!" Then he fell to his knees and begged God not to punish his enemies for killing him.

After such an expression of love, the holy martyr went to his heavenly reward. His feast day is December 26th.

  • Sleepless Nights Radio W/Stephen Erkintalo

    in Paranormal

The Horsefly Chronicles Presents: Sleepless Nights with special guest Stephen Erkintalo on Saturday September 26th 9-11pm est

I was born September 18, 1985, in Fort Myers, Florida. Living in Florida, I've always been a beach baby. The sand, water, sun, and palm trees are my comfort zone. Although I love the woods, camping, hiking, and hunting, I'm always drawn back to the shore. My hobbies include music, movies, traveling, and adventure. My passions are business and the paranormal.

Ever since I can recall, I've been motivated by my enthusiasm for creating ideas, concepts, and visions. Business and the paranormal have been my two ultimate passions in life. Business is an intriguing art form of the mind. Unlike art that hangs on the wall, business never settles. It's always adapting, changing, and needs you to reformat your vision into something larger than you to help others' needs and wants as they change.

The paranormal, on the other hand, is something greater than us all. It's the unknown and the unknown is drives the desire to create visions. To me, that's more intriguing than business

  • Kevin Durant vs. Stephen A. Smith; will any good come out of this?

    in Sports

Players entertain free agency in all of the major sports, and media members will try to get the inside scoop. Stephen A. Smith was talking about a possible landing spot for Kevin Durant. Durant is currently under contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but could be a free agent if he doesn't sign a long term deal. Smith was mentioning that Los Angeles could be a top priority for the NBA superstar. Durant immediately called Smith a liar, and then the war of words began. It escalated to the point of Smith telling Durant, “You don’t want to make an enemy out of me.”

We welcome Eugene Pitchford; of Home Court Sports, to talk about his opinion on this media vs. player spat. Who will win the war of words? After we discuss this spat, we will then turn our attention to the Stephon Marbury comments about Michael Jordan. Both are in the shoe business, but Marbury has produced a quality shoe at an affordable price ($15), while a pair of Air Jordans are well over $100. Marbury tweeted "Jordan has been robbing the hood since. Kids dying for shoes and the only face this dude makes is I don't care. The time will change!" Where does Stephon Marbury want this to go?  Listen in and call the show with your thoughts?

"Fear & Loathing: Campaign 2015" with Stephen Lautens

    in Politics

Once again, we welcome Stephen Lautens for his razor sharp interpretation of this marathon exercise in misinformation and slander called Election 42. Scary refugees, scary clothing, scary religion, scary world economy, scary attack ads, scary terrorists. Be afraid. Be blinded by fear so you forget about the most oppressive, most secretive, most corrupt government in the history of Canada. Forget about the wholesale incompetence that Canada has been subjected to. Forget about the giveaway of services and institutions built by Canadians with tax dollars to those in favour.

Did we mention fear? Is it all just a Machiavellian distraction from the terrible economy and democratic deficit or an accurate picture of the Harper mindset? Wake up Canada, the terrorist is living at 24 Sussex Drive.

Join us for a lighter look at the mess that Ottawa and governance has become, and what can be done on October 19th.

  • Dr. Stephen Seager, psychiatrist, author, movie producer: Shattered Families

    in Politics Progressive

Sunday, Sept. 13 at 6pm EST, +Author Stephen Seager, a psychiatrist, best-selling writer, and movie producer, returns to "Human Rights Demand" to discuss the criminalization of mental illness for prison profits. Call-in number (347)857-3293. Speak on air at that number. More than 1.25 million of America's prisoners are mentally ill people. Over 60 percent of inmates in solitary confinement are mentally ill. Half of all police violence incidents involve a person with mental illness. Most victims of prison abuse are mentally ill. Many families suffer Legal Abuse Syndrome (LAS) from trying to extract their vulnerable relatives from the abusive and sometimes murderous prison profiteering system. STOP CRIMINALIZATION OF MENTAL ILLNESS IN THE USA.?

Dr. Stephen Seager wrote: "I have been a psychiatrist for twenty-five years and have worked extensively with the seriously mentally ill (SMI). Recently, I wrote a book, "Behind the Gates of Gomorrah, a Year with the Criminally Insane." While doing publicity for this book, I came in contact with many families of persons with SMI. Listening to them and recalling my own experience, it quickly became apparent that whatever national mental health system once existed has now totally collapsed."

Please support our movie to give this matter the attention it deserves at Indiegogo
Our movie is "Shattered Families: The Collapse of America's Mental Health System."
