Hailed as the "Paganini of the Steelpan," Liam Teague currently serves as Associate Professor of Steelpan and Co-director of the Steelband at Northern Illinois University , the same institution where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music. He has distinguished himself as the recipient of many awards in his homeland, Trinidad and Tobago, including championships for his ability on the steelpan, violin, and recorder. In addition to being the Co-winner of the National Steelband Festival Solo Championship of Trinidad and Tobago, Teague won the St. Louis Symphony Volunteers Association Young Artists Competition in 1998. The All Caribbean Jazz Show is dedicated to all caribbean jazz artistes showcasing our music, our heritage, our culture. This eveninings' show features Leon "Foster"Thomas. Jazz Pannist Leon “Foster” Thomas is carving a new path when it comes to the contemporary styles of jazz, especially concerning one of the finest musical instruments invented in the 20th century…the steelpan. Winner of the 2002 World Steelband Music Festival Soloist category and the Festival’s Duet category in 2004, Foster, as he is also called, is doing his part to expose music lovers to the versatility and many capabilities of this remarkable instrument.
