The Status Quo… What is it and How to Use it in Your Relationships

    in Self Help

The Status Quo… What is it and How to Use it in Your Relationships

Today  @ 1 pm (CST) on Healthy Mind & Body radio… “The Status Quo”... Okay I’m pretty sure that you’ve heard the term before “status quo” but do you know what it means? The exact definition is a Latin phrase meaning the existing state of affairs, particularly with regards to social or political issues. In the sociological sense, it generally applies to maintaining or changing existing social structure and values.

It is the nominal form of the prepositional Latin phrase "in statu quo" – literally "in the state in which", which itself is a shortening of the original phrase in “statu quo res erant ante bellum”, meaning "in the state in which things were before the war".

That cracks me up and it’s very important distinction “before the war” because generally when people change the rules in an established relationship, a battle or war ensues… These cause businesses to fail, marriages to dissolve and friendships to implode… but they don’t have to, if you follow a few simple guidelines.

Join me today at 1 pm (CST) and let’s talk about how to make an agreement, how to keep a agreement and what to do if you need to change or modify an agreement…

    Talk to you then,

It's Not About Your Status, It's About Who You Serve...

    in Christianity

This episode came to me when I was talking to a couple of friends and told them that my credit status is about to change due to a bankruptcy.  Well they began a debate on that you'll never be able to get anything because of it.  Then it hit me like a hammer on my head.  I've heard plenty of testimonies ab out how the Lord has blessed people who really had no means of getting what they've gotten, like a car, new house etc.  As the Lord was talking to me through this all but brief conversation with friend, he wispered in my ear and gave me this.  It's not about your status; it’s about who you serve.

The definition of status is "the relative social, professional, or other standing of someone or something."  So you see you social or professional status or credit status is very important in todays world.  But guess what, in the spiritual real, that means nothing.  You see we have a God that is in control of all of that stuff, so even if they say no you can't get the car, take it to God in prayer and see what happens.  God has a way of making the impossible possible.  He has a way of taking the status that people put on you turn around, why because you serve him.

Jesus took a young boy who's status was only having two fish and five loaves of bread (Matthew 14:13-21), and guess what, He fed 5000 with that and had plenty left over.  That little boys wasn't popular, he was just available when Jesus needed to use him.  It wasn't about his Status it was about who he was around or who he served.  That's what Jesus did; he changed that young man’s status.

Join me Hezekiah L. Montgomery host of The Man In The Mirror and Nichelle Johnson my Co Host as we discuss It's Not About Your Status, It's About Who You Serve.  The Cattle on a thousand hills are His, so what more can He do for You!!!

Adjustment of Status v. Consular Processing, Provisional Waiver, Regular Waiver

    in Legal

The United States Immigration Laws allows certain relatives to file for other relatives. In addition, the intending immigrant has to do either Consular processing or adjustment of status to eventually get the “green card.” Green card holder or lawful permanent resident (LPR) means the same thing. As spouse who is a LPR or United States citizen (USC) can file for a spouse. A child who is age 21 and USC can file for a parent. A parent who is a USC can file for children (married or unmarried). A parent who is an LPR can file for unmarried children. A sibling who is a USC and age 21 can file for another sibling. Aunts & uncle and niece & nephew cannot file for the other. If the intending immigrant is in the US and made a lawful entry, the intending immigrant may adjust status in the US. If the intending immigrant did not make a lawful entry, the intending immigrant if in the US has to return his/her US consulate to be processed for the green card. Undocumented means that that the intending was not inspected and admitted. A person who came to the US undocumented and got married to a USC, the intending immigrant may file for a provisional waiver before (s)he goes to the US consulate to be processed.  A person who did not make a lawful entry, stayed in the US for 366 days, and you leave the US, you will be barred for 10 years from coming back. Provisional waiver reduces that time to about two weeks.
