    Americans Take Statin Drugs----WHY?

    in Health

Tens of millions of Americans are taking cholesterol-lowering drugs—mostly statins—and some "experts" claim that many millions more should be taking them. I couldn't disagree more.
Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, that is, they act by blocking the enzyme in your liver that is responsible for making cholesterol (HMG-CoA reductase).
The fact that statin drugs cause side effects is well established—there are now 900 studies proving their adverse effects, which run the gamut from muscle problems to increased cancer risk.
Statins cause numerous side effects that include:
Muscle problems, polyneuropathy (nerve damage in the hands and feet), and rhabdomyolysis (a serious degenerative muscle tissue condition); Acidosis; Immune depression; Anemia; Memory loss; Pancreas or liver dysfunction, including a potential increase in liver enzymes; Cataracts and Sexual dysfunction to name a few.
There is evidence that taking statins may even increase your risk for Lou Gehrig's disease, diabetes and even cancer. However, muscle problems and memory loss are the best known statin drug adverse side effects.
Statin drugs increase insulin resistance, which can be extremely harmful to your health.  Tune in Wednesday Aug 15, 2012 at 7:PM est for more.

    Alcohol, Drugs and the Brain

    in Family

Background: Substances of abuse are a cultural phenomenon as ancient as civilization itself. Only recently, however, have scientists begun to study their effects on us, and more specifically, their effects on our brains. Why do people get addicted to drugs, tobacco, and alcohol?  Why is it so hard to kick a habit? It stands to reason that since drug use is self-destructive, people would naturally avoid it. This obviously is not the case. What is not so obvious, however, is why people turn to addictive drugs.  People use drugs, tobacco, and alcohol to feel good, without regard to the fact that long-term effects are very bad. Research is only now showing us how genetic and environmental factors all play a part in our susceptibility to substance addiction.
KEY WORDS: Alcoholism, dopamine, emotional memory, neurotransmitter, physical dependence, addiction
The Dana Sourcebook of Brain Science

Psychotropic drugs: How to stunt a child's developing brain

    in Psychology

Join us this evening as Fred Shaw speaks about the drugging of America's children.  With a focus on foster children who are helpless to refuse deadly medications, the drugging of children across the country has reached epidemic proportions.

Psychiatrists have created the perfect crime:  Invent disorders to suit the pharmaceuticals being manufactured then label a child or even an adult with the fictional disorders.  The drugs are virtually untested.  No one knows for sure what they will do to the individual child.  What we do know is that these drugs can cause life-long injuries such as tremors, headaches, muscle damage and the shrinking of the frontal cortex of the brain.

While the term "foster care stare" describes the immediate effects of these toxic medications, no one seems willing to discuss the permanent damage including suicidal and homicidal thinking, aggression, violence and violent mood swings associated with them.

This show is produced in coordination with the Citizen's council On Human Rights

Where is the outrage over deaths from Legal Drugs?

    in Health

Drugs: A huge amount of Americans use them. Chances are you have some in your medicine cabinet in your bathroom. Most drugs used in the U.S. today are legal, while some are illegal.

Unfortunately, the picture of drugs portrayed by the mainstream media is very biased and one-sided, and not well understood by most Americans. So I want to present as much factual information here as possible, information you are not likely to read in the mainstream media since they themselves are very much funded and influenced by the pharmaceutical industry.

There are More Deaths from Legal Drugs than Illegal Drugs
