The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday declared a state of emergency on homelessness, calling for $100 million to help address the growing crisis. The state of emergency motion mentioned some of the reasons why, including a shortage of affordable housing and the lack of emergency shelter. Los Angeles has one of the largest unsheltered populations in the country, and more than an estimated 25,000 homeless residents. Some of those men and women live on the city's infamous Skid Row, a makeshift camp on public sidewalks that stretches for blocks. The motion described the homelessness crisis as "unprecedented and growing." Will all of the 100 million dollars be used towards this cause or is this another way to profit off of the homeless? How do you feel about the states of emergency? Tune in and vibe with us
How many armed cops does it take to terrorize a black kid in California? Apparently, the sky's the limit. Yet another example of the brutish cowardice of armed state mercenaries - in California and the world over...
This is Podcast 11 in Day in the life of the happiest guy - but it ain't gonna be too happy - the armed mercenaries of the state have a way of dashing joy, albeit temporarily, because ultimately love and freedom always prevail. There's just so much blood spilled by the powers-that-be in the meantime though, and we need to heal from that.

This week's Travel Today with Peter Greenberg comes from the Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa in San Luis Obispo County, California—the heart of the state’s Central Coast. It’s also home to Savor the Central Coast—a great four-day gathering of chefs, farmers, restaurants, wineries—not surprising, considering the Central Coast is a huge wine producing region, right behind Napa and Sonoma. Some great chefs will be stopping by, including some local cheese and wine makers.
San Luis Obispo County is also home to Hearst Castle, the famous home of newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst. Ty Smith, Chief of Museum Interpretation at Hearst Castle, will explain the unique time in American history that Hearst castle represents. All of this and more on this week's Travel Today with Peter Greenberg.
This week's Travel Today with Peter Greenberg comes from Sacramento, California. Right now, the city is ground zero in one of the worst Southwest droughts in recent history. Sacramento Fire Chief Walt White talks about the wildfire situation—and also what off-the-brochure restaurants keep him and his firefighters fueled so they can keep Sacramento safe. There are dozens of great choices, because Sacramento is not just the capital of California, but is also the self-proclaimed “Farm-to-Fork Capital of the U.S.” and has compelling reasons to support that claim. How many farms are within a 30-mile radius of the capital? The answer might surprise you.
Craig McNamara, Founder of the Center for Land-Based Learning, gives us some remarkably practical advice about living—and traveling—more sustainably. Then, Lial Jones, Executive Director of the Crocker Art Museum, explains some of its more unusual exhibitions and programs, including one on art and pain management. There’s all of this and more when Travel Today with Peter Greenberg broadcasts from Sacramento, California.

Today Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes the Metal Band The Secret VI to the show!
Southern California metal band The Secret VI are set to release their new Ep, Mixed Episode on 11 September 2015 via Vanity Digital Music / Vanity Music Group.
Comprised of three tracks, "Plastic Smile," "You're All Bark" and "Driven," Mixed Episode takes the band away from the death metal leanings of their 2012 demos and into a much more melodic metal direction.. "I love all kinds of metal, including bands like Morbid Angel and Slayer," says guitarist and founder member, Scotty Ch, "so my writing took a swing in that direction for a while but now we're down to straight forward in your face metal."

With details about grim and grisly fatalities, this history of California's arcane deaths encompasses the murders and accidents that at one time shocked the West Coast. The stories of hangings, gun accidents, suicides, crashes, and overdoses of both the famous and obscure offer a bizarre, if sometimes perverse, glimpse into the Golden State's strange past. Including frightening murder tales like the rape, torture and child murder in The Ape Boy; a doctor slaughters his family in Death in Davis House; the unsolved savage murder of an entire family in The Keddie Murders and a young female psychopath in Penny For Her Thoughts.
