Shane Bratby was diagnosed at ten years old with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a degenerative and rare neurological condition, Shane was told he wouldn’t live past 25 years of age.
He left school at 16 and went into a dark depression. Fear became his constant companion until he decided in his 20s to help others with mobility issues, like himself, become more independent.
He launched a charity service that helped the elderly order their grocery shopping online. This launched his first company, MobilityBuy.com. With multiple shops, the business is now being franchised.
Then he was inspired to help more people with disabilities get great quality work or start their own business, and created his second company, DisabledEntrepreneurs.co.uk.

Today Mary and Janice are discussing three of the things that we wish we knew prior to starting our businesses. It is our belief that it is never too late to learn. Our topics are very personal and touch on things that either we both or one of us have felt recently. Each week we have special guests and/or take callers and answer questions. It is all about our spiritual growth/soul level and the signs and guidance that we receive and how to recognize them. If you have suggestions, comments or questions feel free to contact Janice at firstname.lastname@example.org or Mary at MaryAnswersNow @ gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

So, how DO you successfully start a new business? The answer is actually quite simple. You must have a plan. Most businesses that fail, experience the failure very early and primarily as a direct result of not having a plan. They have an idea for a business and in some cases a really good idea. The missing element is the plan.
To ensure you have success with your business, there are four steps in creating a strategic plan. Business leader, author, professional speaker, philanthropist and adventurer Todd Millar will walk us through those 4 steps.
After 25 plus years in various senior executive roles Todd Millar participated in the most notable success with the Bain Capital transaction whereby he was instrumentally involved with the acquisition of Canadian yellow pages for 1.9 billion and in less than seven months selling the company for 2.6 billion. Having participated in the 700 million dollar profit for Bain, Millar ventured off to Base Camp Mount Everest (19k feet) with his son for a life awakening experience. He now spends all his time providing guidance to others through coaching, consulting and professional speaking.

This week on What Keeps You Up At Night, host Brendan Major is joined by Rob Gramer to talk about a topic that has recently been creating a lot of buzz - crowdfunding. Rob is in the business of helping people launch their ideas into businesses, and specifically how the website kickstarter.com has been an intricate part in that process. If you were ever curious about the concept of crowdfunding, or just want to learn more about turning your dream into a real business, then be sure to tune in!
About our Guest
Rob Gramer has always focused his life on learning how to make things. As a kid he rebuilt lawn mower engines instead of playing with friends. In high school, he competed in automotive design competitions. And after he received his degree in mechanical engineering, he dove into the top secret world of designing jet engines for military drones (used extensively in the Afghanistan wars).
Recently, Rob has discovered that it doesn't matter how good your idea or product is if you can't sell it, prompting him to move from engineering into sales and marketing. He's becoming an expert at getting startups off the ground, all while working with investors and inventors all over the world.
Are you an aspiring business owner? Sarae is joined by Benjamin Weeda, Client Outreach Manager, at the Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute (RMMFI) to discuss how you can build a solid personal foundation to set yourself up for success when launching a business. Learn what most entrepreneurs fail to plan for and what you need to consider to succeed.
