The Naperville Beat is a weekly Internet radio podcast covering what is going on in Naperville area business, culture and society. We tell the stories of our friends, neighbors and community leaders. In this episode Naperville resident and neighborly insurance professional CJ Lydon tells us about the Stars and Stripes in Naperville group and how its participants give back to the community.
Topics covered on this show:
1) About Stars and Stripes in Naperville, from concept to celebration and how it happened.
2) Tell us about the structure and format of your meetings and who should consider attending.
3) Celebrating patriotism around the Naperville area, how can we get more people involved?
4) What are your favorite outreach goals for 2013 and what events and groups do you hope to support?
CJ Lydon is a Naperville resident, neighbor and friend who volunteers her time and energy to help support our local patriots and families whose members serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. She is a founding member of Stars and Stripes in Naperville and by day she works as an insurance professional
Nick Augustine, host of The Naperville Beat, recently attended a Stars and Stripes in Naperville meeting and wanted to learn more.
We've got Kalen Arreola with us, the founder of Stars and Stripes Marketing and PR as well as Pinups for Patriots. She is an Army Veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and is active in the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation in San Diego, Calif., VeteransPlus in Tampa, Fla., Women Veterans of Colorado, Honoring Our Fallen, San Diego Military Affairs Committee.
We have some fun with a bit of pin-up quizzing and then come back with a big Q&A featuring Hugh Heffner and Playboy, since it was the magazine that made Alberto Vargas (a painter of pinups) so popular.
We mention the before and after pictures of pinup models and also a video of how photoshop modifies women's bodies.
Orlando Scandrick and his contract situation.
---How does this effect the teams off season plans? Should he be paid? Enough depth at position not to worry?
Dez in the house.
---Does this show that he is all in for this season? Will a long term deal get done/should it this season? How will Dez play without a big contract?
---Dustin Vaughan, the next QB in Big D? Similar to Romo. Better college stats. How does his development effect Weeden?
--- the convicts team, or so they were called in the nineties was the dynasty team and super successful. a lot of people are giving a lot of flack to Dallas this season for bringing on so many players with questionable off the field issues. Could this years "convict team" be just as successful?
Buck Davidson and Doug Anderson pick their Fantasy All-Star Team for the first quarter of the season and even pair off in a Fantasy home run derby. Of course being the pessimist that he is Doug wants to focus on the anti-All-Stars; the players who have let us down the most so far this season.

PASS VS RUN:
---With a seemingly dimished running game this season, can Romo be a viable option for a possible 19 games? Will his back hold up? Can he mentall handle the load of having to throw more than the previous season, their best in half a decade?
---Can Greg Hardy be a leader off the field? Everyone knows the respect he demands on the field, but can a Cowboys locker room that prides themselves on class and doing the right thing really accomodate a personality such as Hardy's for a full season?
---Pro Bowl Center Travis Frederick had some choice word when asked if this offensive line is the greatest in history. Humble, sure, but did his words resonate around the locker room or cause resentment?
---DID THE COWBOYS GET SNUBBED? Best WR core in the league in Big D? NFL.com doesnt think so.
