Bob Corlett continually upends the conventional wisdom in recruiting, developing hiring processes that are faster, more certain, and far less expensive than the old-school, unproven, and unexamined practices used nearly everywhere.
Probably because he can’t leave well enough alone, and almost certainly because he freely shares his innovative approaches, Bob has been named as one of the 100 most influential people in staffing. He is one of the unruly founding members of the Editorial Advisory Board for The HR Examiner, he writes a very popular nationally syndicated weekly column the American Cities Business Journals, and he is a frequently requested speaker at Society for Human Resources Management meetings.
Bob is a recruiting practitioner, founding his own executive search firm, Staffing Advisors, in 2002. Staffing Advisors quickly attracted a client list of some of Washington’s most prominent organizations. The firm conducts searches in every functional area and career level — primarily for associations; charitable, education, and other nonprofits; and high growth companies.

Last week we talked about how to make meetings worth everyone’s time, and this week we’re going to talk about the benefits of a blended workforce and the staffing challenges it brings.
The way we used to work is gone. The days of primarily being full-time or part-time have given way to the blended workforce — those individuals working as independent contractors, freelance workers and self-employed entrepreneurial talent side-by-side their full-time brothers and sisters.
Employers are now hiring record numbers of contingent workers and relying increasingly on this mix to achieve their goals. Not only that, these workers are happier, have achieved greater work-life integration and are profiting on their own. That’s welcome news for employers and workers looking to improve their opportunities.
But building and managing this blended workforce presents challenges on almost every front—particularly when it comes to effectively sourcing and hiring contingent workers. Employers need to think about — and hire — talent differently.

Ce Ce Moreland, a DBU Alumni received her B.S. Degree in 2005. She received relevant entrepreneur experience while working as a Human Resources Assistant and Business Relations Coordinator for the Texas Workforce/ResCare, Inc.
Ce Ce founded People Services Staffing with two partners and contributes much of her entrepreneurial success from relevant experience gained while employed with the Texas Workforce. It was during this employment she realized a hunger for serving in a human services capacity; a hunger for moving job seekers from a dislocated status to job placement. Ce Ce started volunteering as a teen advocate several years ago. She believes that our future leaders must be developed today. She has hosted Family/Teen Educational Summits for about several years now.
These Teen Summits are meant to transform the lives of at-risk youth through mentor relationships while providing the skills for success in educational, emotional, and spiritual development for youth and their families.

John Nalli’s journey within the staffing industry is truly a Canadian success story. After graduating College with a Business Diploma in 1995, John entered the staffing industry by accepting a position at Adecco. For 6 years at this company, John gained invaluable knowledge while moving up through departments; he started with Temporary and Permanent Staffing, then moved onto Business Development, which lead him into Branch Management and finally Area Management.
With encouragement from a close friend and already successful entrepreneur Frank Cianciulli, John decided to set out on his own and build a new type of staffing firm. In 2003 John designed his business plan and launched PEOPLEsource from his kitchen table. With only an idea, a dream, and a ton of ambition, John set in motion one of the most successful staffing firms to ever hit the Canadian market.
Kelly Robinson first showcased his entrepreneurial spirit as a co-founder of a technical staffing firm in the United Kingdom. He then went on to launch Broadbean (2001) the vision being to post the worlds online job adverts and cultivated this idea, with a fantastic team into a global business.
Kelly grew Broadbean by fostering a working environment characteristic of many young technology companies: one that allowed his people to thrive. In 2009, he brought Broadbean to the United States and recreated the type of environment which had proven to be successful for him in the UK. He hand-selected the first of his crew in the US office upon their ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership in wearing many hats. He believed that the culture he fostered would need to parallel the spirit of the existing Broadbean brand in order to produce great results. A few years later, Broadbean Technology has created a strong global presence with offices in the US, Europe and Australia with no intention of slowing down. Although its organizational culture has evolved with its growth, the company remains true to the core fundamentals of its inception: “Keep it light and fun while getting the job done!”
Kelly loves Tottenham, F1, Wing Chun, Soccer Coaching and Snowboarding so if you cold call him, which you probably will if you are reading this, you could do worse than engage him on one of these subjects.
He dislikes Arsenal and people who start a cold call with “how are you” especially when you have never spoken to him!
Kelly is also the winner of the London & South East lifetime achievement award for commitment to the recruitment industry.
