Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) has helped disabled in their quest for survival. In fact, many would likely live with greated dignity if Employers paid their benefits for longer than their two year average. SSDI operates as other Insurance Companies. Meaning, they also have of fine print in policies. How much do you know about SSDI? The knowledge gained today may one day be a saving grace. ESTRA Radio Program todays puts together 2014 Episodes which can fill in information gaps.
Change your clocks, and your Smoke Detector batteries. I don't care for the first part too much, but as a reminder for the later its sure nice - if folks will do so. "Spring Ahead"? OK, we can try, as long as the direction is forward. Fall Back? Surely you don't want me to think about RELAPSE. A relapse will happen "at will" with Brain Disruptions bouncing like they've been sprung, one reason I don't like to FALL BACK. The 'extra' hour of sleep? I'm not going anywhere, I can sleep in. In our world, its confusing, occasionnally perplexing.
Then. there are the RELASPES due to enviromental situations. Like drug or alchol use and abuse (its called Adult Beverages for a reason - Be Adult. Its a mind set. How to correct that mind set? I dunno, call and we can talk about it. We'll touch on Brain Injury Coping Skills, of course. I will discuss the ground work of putting together a television show; left over and CHECKED candy from Halloween; one more clock change reminder, and discuss my Lincoln Golden Eagles football team.
Mr Stackhouse and I are taking TMDS on the road, with a visit into Colorado and Nebraska on the schedule of the 7-state trip. (And he wants to go to Vegas. Not sure there. Budget$ to abide - SSDI guy, ya know. Still, Colorado. Somethnig tells me I'll be "Rocky Mountain High, Colorado: For a Class 'A' school in Indiana, we made national news this weekend. And though LHS victory over Tri HIGH puts the Eagles in the Sectional Championship game - the score was NEVER the story, but confused supporters, a shattered communty and unchecked untruths from the Local FOX (boo) TV Station.. Lincoln won 35-24, btw.... (424) 243-9540
"I hope you will join me and my co-host RSD Coach Marla on Friday, March 23 at 2PM EST when we kick off MSstation's newest show, "In Sickness and In Health", when we will be welcoming our first guest, Karl Kazmierczak, Esq.

Brain Injury Radio Network does not only apply to survivors of brain injuries. Caregivers, family members, loved ones, medical professionals, advocates who want to make changes happen for survivors and the generally public who want to learn how to help others in need.
Who decides when outpatient care is no longer needed, how an individual can not get any better, or when limitations run out? Many insurance companies cut off care for outpatient care after a limited amount of time.
There are many struggles that occur for anyone involved in the financial side of occurance after a brain injury. Unless there is a substantial lawsuit which takes place after, the largest battle aside from the recovery process is how are needs going to be met. For caregivers, when your life is put on hold to now cover the expenses for someone else aside from trying to take care of yourself or children in a family, now you may have an adult who can not manage these tasks on their own any longer. Unfortunately, home health aides are not in any position to take care of these personal needs. Who represents the injured?
For a survivor, are handling financial tasks too much? Has your cognitive development had an impact on stress, money, relationships they can now trust in their lives and how things will be taken care of? What happens if an individual hasn't been so blessed to finally get approved for SSDI? Who represents the survivors after family has given up their relationships with the survivors? When disability insurance only covers 80% of medical costs (if any) how does a disabled individual know how to get supplemental insurance? How much does the brain injury community know where to go and who to talk to in each state or even locally in their area?

It all starts with filing an Insurance Claim. Whether it's you in a car collision, a Sandy Hook flood, property fire, yes this list is endless of how you come into contact with a carrier. But once dealing with one willing to do just about anything to avoid paying a claim, buckle your seatbelt and get ready for the ride of your life. How can this end? Considering the power of Wall Street, Insured Civil Rights Legislation signed by Congress may be the only light for Main Street. Been hurt by unfair insurance tactics or ERISA protecting employers? Tell Congress no more. You've had enough. Call yours at (202) 224- 3121 and simply say, "I support Insured Civil Rights Legislation". I don't like being mistreated when paying premiums to these Wall Street Companies. Next, join ESTRA for a discussion on Overt vs. Covert Surveillance today.

Misinformation about electroshock is being delivered to the public. David Healy, psychiatrist and a writer on Mad in America, also co-authored a book supporting electroshock. Shock survivors want to hear Healy's defense. They say the dangers of his pro-shock position include people voluntarily getting it based on his word that brain damage from electroshock is an "urban myth" (which Breggin M. D., pointed out in HuffPost 2012). Shock survivors demonstrate the ways in which they have been damaged and present evidence from studies validating those damages. To many in the survivor movement, it is starting to feel Healy, like psychiatry itself, is a hidden danger, acting as an ally, supposedly anti-drug, he has long had the support of the movement. Shock survivors want to know: Do you know David Healy supports electroshock? Call in live: (267)521-0167
Jason Kalendek, a 43 year old shock survivor, who had been on psych drugs for more than 20 years was conned into getting electroshock as a way to get off the drugs. Electroshock destroyed his working memory and caused amnesia; destroyed his art career. The shock was 5 years ago and he is barely able to survive, the trauma of it is the worst thing that has ever happened to him.
Marie Jones, 49, lost all of her autobiographical memory due to electroshock without informed consent, which she was subject to while going cold turkey from Klonopin.
Tony Buonfiglio is a 61 year old electroshock survivor and photojournalist who was subjected to shock at 16 years old. He never regained memories of his childhood and continues to struggle with long term and short term memory loss.
Kim Wood is 57 years old and on SSDI for over 6 years after 16 years of psych meds. After 18 electroshocks, 2009-2010, her 26 year nursing career was destroyed.
Invited: David Healy, Peter Breggin; Ginger Breggin, Robert Whitaker, Bonnie Burtsow
